Worst facilities and housing

Why is yale struggling with over enrollment? Did they accept too many this year?

Or you could get a Soviet 8x9 foot box with black mold, no natural light and ceilings that close in on you. And laundry is across the quad (at the TikTok building)

All for the same price! In a “random” lottery process

Random my nut sack. You think Paltrow's kid or Cuban's kid got placed in the Soviet building?

heard a rumor that at certain T20 schools, if you receive any financial aid, you are not placed in the "nice" or "new" dorms.
Anyone else?

But then you have the rich kids' dorm and the financial aid kid dorm.

But this is the case at a lot of schools.

Virginia tech also has tiered pricing for dorms.

Thanks. I kind of meant rank the facilities of five schools my kids is applying to:

WM
VT
jMU
GMUr

VCU

FWIW my DD had the most gorgeous dorms at GMU. one looked like a hotel with large wall kitchenette. The bathroom was also like hotel. Most of the dorms are relatively and faciities are state of the art

WM should be at the bottom of that list. Disgusting dorms. My daughter transferred out last year (for reasons unrelated to housing), but those dorms were grotesque.

Elon Musk’s kid was in the worst dorm at Brown last year, but seemed quite happy despite. Rumor was he was thrilled to be thousands of miles away from dad, though.

The worst dorms at W&M aren't any worse than the worst dorms at JMU or VT.

How common is this or does this happen to only a small subset of students?

What part of sharing a room with a "small bed" (aka twin extra long) would prevent someone from functioning?

Which dorm was it? W&M is tearing down a lot of old dorms and building new ones. There have been substantial improvements in campus housing in recent years.

Will these new dorms be for Freshman and will they be done by fall 2026?

They're renovating or replacing 80% of housing, I believe.

Yes, for freshmen and will be open Fall 2025(except for a select few, I think very few will still be worked on into 2026?).

Yep. Lots of details about the new dorm construction at W&M here.

People say dorms in the "GGV" (Green and Gold Village) complex aren't good but foster great community. People say the best friendships are made in the worst dorms at W&M but that the actual facilities are not optimal.
