Time to come together and move forward as one nation

Another Trump voter here. I don’t need any apologies. I just want our country to begin to mend.

Why TF would anyone apologize to Trump voters?

Such a gaslighting abuser comment.

Let’s now put all that behind us and work together, as one nation, to make America a better place; a place our children and grandchildren will be even more proud to call home.

Who’s with me?

Hey, I'm fine. The the sun rose this morning, I have more money than I did yesterday, I'm old enough not to have to worry about abortion, or climate change, I have no kids. It ultimately makes no difference to me. My default is to be kind to everyone. I just find this very sad and a bit alarming as an observer.

But F everyone else. Nice.

Allegedly, 80 million people voted to ‘effed with.

Trump did not get 80m votes. Always lying.

This will be a peaceful transfer of power. Notice how already the cries of voter fraud have all but stopped? Make no mistake, we have elected a total grifter.

Yeah, because Democrats aren't nutjobs. If Trump lost last night, it would be a whole different story. No one was packing go bags in DC if Trump won... Think about it.

Must be lovely to be so unaffected by the likely events to come.

To be fair, the current president threatened the livelihood of 200+ million workers and managed to get quite a few military fired before the courts stopped him.

I have no trouble believing Trump was legitimately elected.

But no, I'm not going to "come together" with people who think that I don't deserve to make healthcare decisions about my own body or think that their right to own an AR 15 is more important than my and my children's right to not get randomly shot in public.

I'm sorry, I just can't "come together" with people who believe those things.

Same. He called Pelosi a "B" + Vance called Harris " trash". Take your misogyny and stuff it.

How do you come together with people who won't respect you because of the color of your skin, the person you love or the religion you practice?

What's the alternative? Fight them? Despise them? Deplore them?

How will any of those options improve things?

My suggestion: talk to them, listen to them, and find areas where you do agree. Find common ground where it exists and gain mutual understanding where it doesn't.

THAT is the path forward to a better nation.

Don't you see that both sides participate in this with vigor and nastiness?

--a moderate Harris voter who deplores the ridiculous rhetoric on both sides ("Nazi", "rapists", etc., etc.)

Ok, I get your point. But I don’t continue to hang out with people who have violated my boundaries and did not make any effort to show me they’ve changed. So, I’ll wait and see.

Can you see how your plea for unit seems a little disingenuous, OP?

Trump stood on a stage and called journalists the enemy from within and said people should shoot them. No joke, no exaggeration, he said it.

I am married to a journalist. Should I just say "Oh, that's okay. All good. I'm sure you didn't mean to ACTUALLY threaten my husband."

How do you expect me to be a-okay with Trump, OP? For real. Would you be able to, had Harris won and she had suggested your husband should be exterminated?

Hard Pass. I don't need a$$holes as friends. Coming around to their way of thinking (what you think I should do) is not going to "improve" things either.

Serious question. Why are you on this thread since you clearly have no interest in moving forward as one nation as the OP proposes? There are 7,999,543 other threads where you can spew your hatred about Trump and those who voted for him.

No, thank you. You are own your own from
now on. I don’t care about anyone else besides myself (and my family.)

I will continue to be polite to everyone, regardless of their politics, but I will not "come together" with MAGAs, who I consider to be extreme-rightwingers, not garden-variety-your-grandpa's Republicans. They are and will remain a clear and present danger to this country.
