Volleyball tryouts in real time

I am not familiar with the term "alternate" but the club should explain what it means. Some clubs try to avoid answering repetitive questions about their offer process by explaining it ahead of time in an email either before or immediately after the tryouts. I got such emails from both MOCO and MVSA. You may be offered a spot on a team or you can be placed on a waitlist. With some notable exceptions, it is not typical to get a negative answer until the rosters are full. MVSA makes it clear to about 50% of the players who try out that they have no chance of making a team (they send an email saying thank you for showing up, please don't come to the second day). You should ask the person you communicate with what "alternate" means. Please come back and share the answer because it might help others.

All clubs offer on the same day of tryouts. If you haven't received one, you could be a possible alternate based others declining their offers. You won't know and may have to wait after Tuesday.

When on Tuesday (today đŸ˜±) can we expect to hear back? My daughter was listed as an alternate player for 2 clubs đŸ˜Ș

The girls who received an offer have until 10pm tonight (Tuesday) to accept/decline. So it might not be until late into the night, unfortunately, that the club learns of declinations and starts contacting alternates. Hopefully, the girls who have made up their minds do the right thing and decline in a timely manner. Good luck to your DD!

It means that if the girls who were offered roster spots for your daughters position turn down their offer, you are in line to potentially take their roster spot. You may want to ask what number alternate your daughter is for her position. Sometimes there are more alternates in front of you in line.

Sometime after 10 pm - this could definitely go into tomorrow.

If we accepted an offer and paid the initial fee, but didn’t “accept your assignment” via sports engine can we withdraw and choose another club? We just got an offer from the club she wants, but didn’t think she was high up on their list

I think you can but you may not get your money back.

You should have talked to the club that your DD really wanted before accepting the other offer. I agree that you may lose the money you paid if you decide to accept the other offer.

It's a bit much to handle when you are new to this, I agree. You will know next time.

You need to really look into this and verify. I think you are on the hook for the whole fee for the whole season and not just the deposit.
