When my spouse did extended overseas trips (months at a time) when the kids were little, I'd say I was solo parenting. It came up more often in conversation with toddlers/preschoolers. After that, it rarely came up in conversation. Now I'm divorced with 90% custody. Unless someone is a close friend, they probably have no idea that I am divorced so I don't call myself anything other than a mom of 2 kids. I am single because I am unmarried and do not date, but another parent exists and it all gives me a headache so I don't worry about anyone but myself.

Your marital status is Divorced. In English, maybe you could say I’m divorced and haven’t remarried. But you’re divorced as long as your ex is still alive. When you go on dates in the future, you don’t think people want to know if you’ve been married before, and to what extent your ex is in the picture? Single people don’t have ex husbands or ex wives.

Any time the “father” does little to no actual nor proactive parenting or household managing. You are then a Single Mother. And better off hiring a sitter to help than asking him
