Gov. Youngkin issues statement after DOJ files lawsuit over noncitizen voting in Va.

Yes. Youngkin had 2 1/2 years as governor to legally undertake this project t to purge voter roles. He waited until right before the election instead— which does violate VA law. Because all the black and brown citizens he “accidentally purges, citizens who accidentally checked the wrong box on a DMV form will now show up to vote and be told the are not eligible. And may be threatened with criminal charges for trying to vote— even if they are eligible and it’s Youngkin’s mistake. And if they were actually trying voting illegally, it would be a crime, and they could be prosecuted, without going through a voter purge AFTER EARLY VOTING HAS STARTED.

Youngkin is so serious about this and considers it such a problem that he ignored it for more than 2 years. The cooling off period serves a purpose. And, there is zero reason Youngkin couldn’t have done this a year ago if he suspected a significant number of illegal voters. This is straight out voter suppression and intimidation of American citizens who seem like they might be noncitizen immigrants.

How many illegal voters were convicted of voting or trying to vote in 2021? I know it’s si blue digits. And I know one such illegal voter was Youngkin’s son.

It would be nice if Republicans at least tried to win without cheating and disenfranchising legal voters.

+1, I totally agree with this. He could've done this years ago but cynically decided to wait until the very last minute to do it. It's nothing but a naked ploy at voter suppression.

President Biden address this already, very early in his term. It’s right in a White House transcript. The problem is, as the president explained, blacks and other minorities often don’t have access to the internet or don’t know how to get a drivers license. So it’s unfair to require a drivers license to vote. Biden explained it all already.

Only a racist asshat would truly believe that black people don't know how to gain access, or use the internet. Let alone knowing how to get a drivers license.

Do you even hear yourself? No wonder that black people are starting to leave the democratic party. geez.

Youngkin, that turpid worm who was elected in VA by playing on the fears of parents during the pandemic and who like Vance is an amoral opportunist, is trying to position himself well in the Trump universe by signaling his MAGA credentials.

Thank goodness we have laws to stop him.

Happy to point this out to you. From the Washington Post:

In a first, noncitizens are voting in D.C. Here’s what it means to them.
More than 500 noncitizen District residents have registered to vote, according to the D.C. Board of Elections.

They came to the United States from El Salvador, Ethiopia and Iran to study, earn money and escape violence. And they all found a home in the nation’s capital. They are not U.S. citizens, but they care about issues in their communities, including education, health care and affordable housing.

And for the first time, these noncitizen residents — some of whom have lived here for decades and have children who were born here — will have a say in how their communities are run: They are among the more than 500 noncitizen District residents who have registered to vote and have cast their ballots or are heading to the polls Tuesday to pick their representatives on the D.C. Council.

So you are wrong. Noncitizens, aka illegal immigrants are voting in the US.

These people did not vote in federal elections. Local and state voting for non-citizens is up to that jurisdiction. You are confusing the two, or just not that bright.

That does not matter. You/PP keep saying that illegal aliens don't vote; we keep telling you that they do.

People without US citizenship should have zero rights to vote on anything in the US. Local or not.

Sure, let's make sure they don't. Youngkin had 2.5 years to do this and decided to pull a bunch of b.s., which will likely kick off actual legal voters at the last minute. This wasn't a well-thought out, good faith effort at rooting out illegal voting. It's a naked attempt at voter suppression under the guise of finding illegal aliens who could vote.

Glenn Youngkin committed voter fraud.

When will he be prosecuted? This needs to be severe.

Taking dead people off the voter roles is not voter fraud, PP. get over it.

This is political weaponization of the DOJ like we’ve never seen before. Dems must be getting some bad news via internal polling to get this desperate.

Glenn Youngkin’s illegal actions removed legitimate American citizens from the voter rolls.

90 days is the law. Glenn Youngkin broke the law by committing voter fraud against US citizens by tampering with the voter rolls. He should face a felony count for every American citizen he erroneously - and illegally - removed from the voter rolls.

He needs to be prosecuted.

The law is non-citizens cannot vote. Why do you want non-citizens to vote? Youngkin is following the law. If these people have proof they are actually citizens, they can submit the proof and vote.

Youngkin is following the law.

You illustrate perfectly why democrats are flooding the country with illegal immigrants. You want them here, overwhelming schools, hospitals, prisons, social services, getting FEMA money, and illegally voting. You don’t care about election integrity or American citizens.

No. Glenn Youngkin broke election laws by tampering with voter rolls within 90 days of an election. You can’t “clean” voter rolls within that timeframe.

You don’t get to break a law while claiming you’re trying to enforce the law. You think criminals get away with that excuse at trial?

Election law breakers like Glenn Youngkin should be prosecuted swiftly.

Non-citizens do not have the right to vote. Why is the DOJ going to bat for non-American citizens to vote?

You know why. Everyone knows why.

The law is you don’t this 90 days before an election because every time they do a voter purge they include people by mistake.

It’s a very simple requirement that you can do it as long as you give people enough time to find about it and fix your mistakes.

You are just full of horse💩

So proud he’s the governor of VA and proud to be a Virginian! I hope he runs in 2028-a dignified and calm leader that is effective. Exactly what the GOP could use now and don’t have!!

I hope he runs in 2028 too— because VA doesn’t have a statewide election in 2028and I’m not proud of anyone blatantly breaking federal voting laws. Not Youngkin. And not youngkins kid who is one of the few people in Virginia who has actually been trying to vote illegally. Twice IIRC. No wonder Youngkin things ineligible people are voting in VA. His own kid tried— twice. And no consequences were imposed. Values start at home.

“The agency alleges that Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin violated the NVRA when announcing and subsequently carrying out an executive order which required the election commissioner to regularly update the state’s voter lists to remove individuals who have been "identified as noncitizens," and had not responded to a request to verify their citizenship in 14 days.”

Were you identified as a non-citizen, and did you receive a request to verify your citizenship you didn’t respond to?

Because that’s what VA is doing. They are only removing voters who have been identified as non-citizens and haven’t responded to verify their citizenship.

Is there any evidence that non-citizens are voting?

The Overton Window has move so far on this issue that we accept as normal governmental action to solve a non-existent problem. This is voter suppression, pure and simple.

Yes, Washington, DC, allowed over 500 non-citizens to vote this year.

Legally. For local government offices only. What does that have to do with VA federal elections?
