None? A normal teacher that can teach without a mask. It’s so much more effective when teachers aren’t masked when teaching young children. If you can’t do that, then work a different job someone else that can do this is able to be hired

Well what would be even better is if OP's kid had a special governess who only taught her and rode to school each day on a unicorn. But in the real world, OP has the choice of coping with the situation, pushing for her kid to change classes, or pressuring the teacher to stop wearing a mask (increasing the chances she'll be absent or quit).

In my workplace the only people who mask are fresh out of college and seem to wear it for anxiety reasons. The older people, even those with health problems, don't bother.
There seems to be a real epidemic of 22 year olds who are "immunocompromised".
If the teacher was older this really wouldn't bother me though. An experienced teacher is worth their weight in gold.

OP, I would be disappointed, too. It’s hard for kids to understand in a noisy classroom and it’s detrimental. That said, I think you’re going to have to deal with it because in the DC area no principal is going to tell a teacher to stop wearing a mask. The people who are still wearing masks all the time are very commuter to it. (Even though all of them seem to get sick anyway…)

*committed to it.

It's been a month since school started. I was hoping it was temporary but she's still wearing it. I'm a total jerk if I say something and nothing would change, but I can't be the only one out there who would be bothered by this?

You would be a jerk for saying something. What if she was an autoimmune disease?

A good or great teacher can teach in a mask effectively. This is a you problem, not her. If you care, you'd keep your sick kid home.

You are far too mature and reasonable to be posting here.

I used to teach fitness classes and had several clients continue to wear masks after getting vaccinated to protect themselves as cancer survivors, or to do the same for someone in their home who was a cancer survivor. This made sense to me.

Donate a wireless mic headset so you kid can hear.

If there was someone else that could do the job, they'd have already been hired for the class next door that has a long term sub with no reprieve in sight.

OP should drill this teacher for her medical history to see if she has a "good enough" reason to mask (according to OP).

Does your child have auditory processing issues? A hearing problem? If not - you leave it alone. If yes, ask to switch classes.

I would be so, so mad.
Inappropriate.
Change classes to someone normal.
Covid was 4 years ago. Get over it.

This is a situation that is annoying and also totally understandable. Both can exist at the same time.

I work with a teacher who wears a mask. She’s currently undergoing cancer treatments.

She had even more of my support tonight. I didn’t consider she’d have selfish, rude people coming after her for a mere mask.

Bigots gonna bigot. Take your anti-vax nonsense elsewhere. School teachers are some of the most at risk for communicable diseases. Have a shred of compassion for someone other than yourself for once.
