This bothers me. I am someone who has trouble understanding people talk when they wear a mask. I can't imagine listening to my teacher talk for hours a day with a mask on. It's been a month since school started. I was hoping it was temporary but she's still wearing it. I'm a total jerk if I say something and nothing would change, but I can't be the only one out there who would be bothered by this? |
What can you do? She has a right to wear one. I doubt the kids are that bothered by it. |
Bring it up with the principal, not the teacher. It would help if several parents did this. You are not the only parent bothered by it. |
One of my kid's teachers does too (4th grade). You really don't know what's going on, and its basically none of your business.
I assume my kid's teacher, who is young and fairly new to teaching, is just trying to not get sick all the time and miss work? |
Yell at her to take it off. What’s with these obsessive compulsive types. They shouldn’t work |
OK you go first. |
Not your business. Does you kid have a problem understanding or is it just a you problem?
|
I have contact principals about issues with certain teachers. You sound like someone with only one kid and this is your first rodeo. |
+ 1 even if you are joking. Live classroom teaching is not the profession for you if you have OCD about germs. Teach at an online school, transition to admin or curriculum writing. |
What a ridiculously stupid thing to say! What if he has an immunocompromized spouse, or a parent? What if she is battling cancer? She should give up her job so you nuts wouldn't be so bothered by a silly mask? |
Which is better: a teacher who wears a mask, a teacher who's out frequently due to illness, or a teacher who is a long-term sub because the actual teacher quit? |
I work in a school and those teachers who wear a mask have survived cancer or have immune issues. They’re not doing it for fun, I can guarantee you. It’s really hard to teach in a mask all day and I’m grateful I don’t have to anymore. |
Schools are full of strep, covid, and other seasonal diseases at the moment. My child got Covid the first week of school this year (no we no longer wear masks). I don't blame her one bit for wanting to protect herself. You can just deal, OP. |
I wear a kn95 to work because I have risk factors and I take care of my elderly parents one of whom has cancer.
You know there is a teacher shortage right? Go ahead and try to get this teacher pushed out. I doubt you will be successful, but if you are, your kid likely will get stuck with a sucky sub. And get your hearing checked if you can't hear people. Maybe you need a hearing aid. |
