Muslim mayor of Hamtranck, (the only majority Muslim city in the US) gives Trump his endorsement .

Not voting for Harris but also not voting for Trump.

In my circle of Muslims that I know, only one person is voting Harris, two are likely voting for trump, and everyone else is voting third party or staying home.

There was a window for Harris to win back a lot of Muslim votes, but she didn’t earn them.

What was that “window”? What do you believe Harris should have done within that window to “earn” / “win back a lot of Muslim votes”?

I ask because I’m genuinely curious. This post is also both very specific —and short on details. Harris has been the nominee for less than 2 months — although I get that early voting and voting by mail are already starting up. Given these time constraints, I’d like to understand what Harris could have done — or possibly could still do— within them to meet your expectations.

in Michigan, home to a large Arab American community, 40% of Muslim voters backed the Green Party's Stein. Republican candidate Donald Trump got 18%, with Harris, who is President Joe Biden's vice president, trailing at 12%.

As the situation erupts further (total siege and no aid allowed in northern Gaza, the bombing of Lebanon, no ceasefire), I wouldn't be surprised if 12% support for Harris drops lower and that Trump gets more votes, especially with endorsements from people like this mayor.

Trump vows to restore Muslim ban saying he won’t take refugees from ‘infested countries’

‘I’m the one protecting you,’ he told Jewish Americans at the event.

“We will deport the foreign Jihad sympathizers and Hamas supporters from our midst,” the former president promised.

“We will get them out of our country. I will ban refugee resettlement from terror-infested areas like the Gaza Strip and we will seal our border.”

He added: “We will bring back the travel ban — you remember the famous travel ban.

It’s disgusting that you are insulting Muslim voters and telling them how they should vote. They’ve seen how Biden has handled Gaza and how Harris has refused to distance herself from his approach. You act like Muslim voters are children who need to be told how to vote.

I think Stein will win the most votes from Muslim voters. She is actively courting their support. Trump could well beat Harris among Muslim voters if the situation in Gaza in the Middle East doesn’t improve. In fact, there are signs it could worsen with a concurrent Hezbollah-Hamas conflict.

Sure we do. Probably much more than the average non-Muslim voter in this country.

I'm a US born citizen, lived here my entire life. My family is third generation now, meaning parents were born here and grandparents immigrated here. Good luck getting us deported.

Stop trying to scare us. You want our votes, earn them.

With what?

In Canada, Muslims tend to be right wing extremists. They are generally profoundly anti-women and anti-gay.

You know, the US is a free country. You can vote for anyone you want to. I don't see any need, however, for Democrats to cater to this tiny minority. Most Muslims do not share the values of liberal, educated, and tolerant voters.

eh.. I'm not telling them how to vote. I'm telling them to listen to what Trump is saying about Muslims and Palestine.

You're disgusting to think that Trump will be better for Muslims when he's clearly stated that he would get pro-Palestinians "out of the country" and institute a Muslim travel ban.

Republican independent groups are running ads targeted at Muslims praising Harris for her support of Israel. I think it was at the convention where she said she would give Israel all the weapons.

Stein is not going to win. Absolutely no chance. You get to have a say if it will be trump or if it will be Harris and one will be worse for Palestinians. Much worse. Choose wisely.

Trump and most of the Republican Party believe every negative stereotype of every group. They assume that all Muslims support terrorists, and will go after Muslims in the U.S. Some rich individuals may be able to exempt themselves from Trump purges by paying bribes and publicly supporting him. Meanwhile, Trump will support Netanyahu 100% no matter what he does. You have to be deluded to believe otherwise.

The window was open after Biden dropped out.

When she scolded protesters and told them that they want Trump to win, it was not a good look.

They did not allow any pro-Palestinian speakers at the DNC.

DNC official platform was changed to add pro-Israeli talking points about Lebanon.

The uncommitted movement asked her for a meeting after the convention, she refused.

A US citizen was shot in the West Bank by the IDF in August, and the US said nothing.

Another US citizen was killed in the exact same place a couple of weeks later, and Biden called it an accident. The administration should have been more forceful about condemning it. What would have been the downside in calling the family and opening an independent US investigation? The family has said they have not received a call from Biden or Harris.

She has said a ceasefire is needed, but has not said anything else about how her administration would be different. At an interview with the NABJ last week, she was pressed by journalist Eugene Daniels about specific policy that she would implement, and she just said we need a ceasefire. That's it.

Meanwhile, the situation is spiraling out of control. There is almost no chance of ceasefire in Gaza anytime soon. Israel is talking about ordering the population in northern Gaza to leave, starving the people who remain by blocking all aid, and then doing the same thing in the south. Lebanon is on fire, with nearly 200 killed just today. The US talks about deescalation, but apparently approves of the "de-escalate through escalation" strategy of Israel.
