“Too bad you only have boys”

When I meet someone with girls - I feel sorry for them. I would hate to have girls in this day and age of social media. But of course, I don’t say anything.

I grew up in a family of 4 girls and we got CONSTANT comments like this. “Oh your poor dad,” “oh, did your parents just keep trying hoping for a boy?” “I hope your parents have already started saving for all the weddings!” Etc etc.

If we as kids heard this a lot, I can only imagine how often my parents heard it. People say dumb stuff. I think societally, it’s improving, but there will always be some.

I think as a parent you should not be this offended. I have one of each and I sometimes think/wonder b easier or cooler with same genders just out of convenience and their ability to be closer siblings. It is what it is.

So what - she thinks you should have a girl- have you ever imagined that since you don't? Does it really need to be an insult? I think about what it would be like if I had 2 girls or boys but of course I'm happy I have one of each. You love your kids and be confident and secure in your acceptance of them.

Are folks who are this offended may be actually wishing they did have girls? Even if they think about it or wish it why is this such a sin? As long as you love the kid you have I think it's a natural sentiment. It's not like she is suggesting you are a horrible mother.

The problem is all these “boy moms” who constantly try to defend their little monsters’ atrocious and oftentimes sexist/racist behavior.
