This is really impressive. As someone that follows High school sports and specifically the Liberty district Lacrosse closely this was really thorough and I'm not sure how you were able to get all this info. It's hard to get this info on just one school. With that being said I think this will be a 5 school race for the district. Herndon and W&L will upset one or more of the top 3 this year. It's going to be a fun competitive year again in the Liberty. |
W-L has zero chance of winning districts. They lost to Langley 23-3 last season, McLean 16-2, Yorktown 14-3. Not that much has changed. I agree with the long poster - likely Yorktown or Langley but McLean has a shot with those two middies able to pump in goals. |
Might have missed a few but these are most of the returning offensive players in Class 6 who were 2nd Team All-District or better. Attack Levi Wentz - Madison Connor Fructuoso - Robinson Jack Milone - Langley Nate Randles - Yorktown Teegan Louise - Battlefield Grady Eyler - Battlefield Tristan Lee - Gainesville Brendan Robinson - Gainesville Wyatt Holden - Patriot Calvin Maier - Freedom Midfield Max Mullen - McLean Landon Moore - McLean Jonathan Malatesta - W-L Kevin Mahoney - Langley Willson Buttz - Langley Cade Blaha - Patriot Russell Davis - Unity Reed Faceoff Tommy Agents - Robinson Cole Samburg - Langley Dylan Galler - Battlefield Peter Tran - Chantilly |
Well then it's a 3 way race for the Liberty again since Herndon has no chance seeing as they lost to W&L twice last year. Again I BELIEVE either Herndon or W&L will UPSET one of the top 3 schools. I'm not picking them both to finish above the other 3 I just Think it'll be more competitive this year. I've seen teams lose bad in the regular season and upset a team in the playoffs the same year. To say they have no chance after graduation and a whole year of development is simply lazy to me. |
With that being said Langley has to be the favorite with Yorktown a close second IMO. |
All the other talk here is just noise, this here is fair though. Now, who wins the district tourney championship? That's been 4 years running for Yorktown? I think Langley get it this year. |
Unless they choke again! |
I have to agree with Langley winning the liberty championship . Best fogo, best goalie, best defense and 4-5 very strong offensive players led by #8 from last year |
Won't be easy. They need better offensive sets. Their offense is pretty stagnant compared teams like Yorktown and Madison, which feature way more off ball movement and cutting. They can score against the bad teams but when things tighten up in the playoffs they struggle. Robinson seems like a like for lock for Patriot District and Madison seems like a lock for Concorde. Cedar Run could be interesting. Freedom could push Battlefield again this year. |
Didn't Langley score 13 on Yorktown. Last year most of the comments were about their defense and goalie last year. |
Not involved with Langley or Yorktown and watched this game last year. I believe this was the game where I noted BOTH team D was just bad. I see posts above talking up how good the Langley D was, but from what I saw was A LOT of off ball watching by both teams. Also, there was a time in the game where NEITHER team could clear the ball and the game was played between the boxes and just horrible passing, catching and decision making on the clear by the long poles. |
Langley, as well as Yorktown, was definitely flawed last year. In the end, none of it mattered as ROBO was head and shoulders above. |
My sleeper for 2025 is West Potomac.
As someone who coached against them last year, and scouted them deeply, they are returning almost 100% of their roster from 2024. They finished as a top 8 team in 2024 and are returning the highest % of their team in the state They are returning 16/18 players that routinely touched the field last year, including their Jacksonville commit Grant Maloney. They are in my top 5 going into 2025 and wouldn't be surprised if they make a state championship push |
Thanks WestPo dad! |
They are returning the most of the team that lost to Robinson 17-5, 17-2, and 17-6? |
