Would you buy a house with a State Trooper living next door w/ squad car parked out front every day?

Is he hot? I love a man in uniform.

It’s fine.

NP. Which means his house and yours are as likely to be burgled as if he were not a state trooper. The local police came by my house to do a security assessment and the policeman told me about what he learned about security when his own house was burgled.

Still no reason to not buy the house.

If the State Trooper turned out to be the neighbor from hell, is there any chance his connections with the police will make your life a living hell?

There’s a family with the neighbor from hell who hates that their children have a trampoline in the backyard and scream while jumping. The neighbor called the cops on the family multiple times. The cops cannot stop children from playing on their own property. The children are two small kids under 11. It’s crazy!

They'll probably pay their assessments and real estate taxes on time, and will maintain their property; they know their employment means many people hold them to a higher standard than what is usually expected of the general public. They're not likely to have wild parties or to make unreasonable noise on their property. Unless you're the problem, there's no reason to anticipate clashes with any neighbor, including those in law enforcement. The presence of a marked cruiser is probably a good deterrent to bad guys, so would be a plus.

So the answer for me would be yes.

(except if you are black)

Why do you assume all state troopers are white? How racist of you.

The level of ignorance in this supposedly highly-educated area is amusing.

The children will be immobilized soon from injuries suffered on the death trap trampoline.

Might get a traffic ticket backing out of your own driveway.

Don't piss him off; not good to argue with a someone who carries & uses a gun on a daily basis.

Do not knock on your neighbor's door after dark.

Mandatory reporter.
If you walk to the bus stop to meet one kid and leave the other kid (sick with with strep throat that day) sleeping in bed that would get called in to CPS.
They would know all the rules and be required to make a report.

A cop moved in next to my sister’s house, yada yada yada and I now call him BIL.

Wouldn’t bother me.

Eh idk. Two of my cousins are married to state troopers which is kind of crazy because my family isn’t exactly the blue lives matter type. They’re nice guys.

Counterpoint my parents bought a house from a state trooper like 15 years ago. And a few years after that the house ended up getting searched because that state trooper had apparently stolen money from some drug dealer he pulled over.

When I started ten years ago, I didn't think twice about parking my cruiser in my driveway. Nobody ever complained or said anything negative. At that time I lived in a townhouse community with some random car break-ins so my next door neighbor actually liked that my cruiser was visible.

Given the current attitude towards cops, I park mine in the garage. DH wanted a three car garage so we would have extra room for stuff but as it turns out, we use all three spots now. I'd rather random people driving down my cul-de-sac not know I'm a cop.

Obnoxious poorly behaved kids screaming at the top of their lungs jumping on a trampoline is annoying as hell.
