Interesting conversation on TikTok of all places.
Something I did not take into consideration would be any disagreements with the Trooper and if you and State Trooper neighbor did not get along, it could be more trouble than you could dream up. It could be the safest home to buy or the most dangerous one. |

Disagreements would be solved legally. They aren't above the law (despite one off news reports otherwise).
I wouldn't hesitate at all. |

have you ever met a state trooper and thought "oh he's a nice guy!"
plus most are crooked |
| Sure. I don't talk to my neighbors so what they do for a living is irrelevant to me. |
right, we forgot that people could be weird loners. |
| Less likely to get burgled? |
| Yes, for safety, of course. |
| Right next door? No. |
unless he's one of those cops who does crimes to make himself a hero, or a creep who plays at being a cop |
| Before I saw this thread I imagine my reaction would be “huh, the neighbor is a state trooper” and then I would give it zero further thought |
Adding, I absolutely scope out future neighbors (did a lot of that when we bought) but the state trooper thing wouldn’t have been the reason |
| No. Annoying. |
| Wouldn’t bother me at all. |

Wouldn’t bother me at all.
I don’t judge people without meeting them, so my only thought would be, “ah… I see a state trooper lives there.” |

State trooper would be better than a rent a cop who had a gun and an attitude.
My BIL is a narcotics detective and the most conscientious neighbor in the tract. Keeps his property nice and is always there to help out. |
