Would you buy a house with a State Trooper living next door w/ squad car parked out front every day?

LEOs tend to be law abiding and obey HOA and other rules. They'll probably pay their assessments and real estate taxes on time, and will maintain their property; they know their employment means many people hold them to a higher standard than what is usually expected of the general public. They're not likely to have wild parties or to make unreasonable noise on their property. Unless you're the problem, there's no reason to anticipate clashes with any neighbor, including those in law enforcement. The presence of a marked cruiser is probably a good deterrent to bad guys, so would be a plus.

So the answer for me would be yes.

Your imagination: There will be lots of conflict and you will be on edge all the time.

Reality: The LEO is an ordinary neighbor exactly like anyone else.

Ask me how I know.

I lived in Wheaton for 20 years and there were 2 cops on my street who would park their official cars out front. No hassles. And they were nice people.

I totally agree with this. Every LEO we have ever lived near has maintained their property inside and out better than 99% of the neighborhood. All have been very nice as well.

We lived next to a motorcycle cop when I was in my teens and twenties. Just the nicest guy! All the kids and parents liked him. I'd meet the person first before jumping to conclusions.

It entirely depends on the individual's values. Do you end up with a power-hungry racist moron who throws his weight about and gets his cronies to believe his random accusations about you? We're not white, which is why I bring this up. Or do you end up with a normal person, in which case, it would probably be a nice safe location?

Every LEO I've ever known- and this is DC where there are 5000 agencies- has been an egotistic, abusive, alcoholic. Hell no.

Don’t bother me. When I was growing up, the chief of police lived on our street. I don’t think that I ever really saw him, but I always felt safe with him around.

I would bet a lot of money that state troopers make better neighbors than the people answering "no".

You’d rather have an attorney who could start a nuisance lawsuit over your trees at any time?

The state trooper wouldn’t bother me, but his annoying MLM pushing wife would be a problem! (Ask me how I know)

If it's a higher crime area, yes.
If it's a lower crime area, no.
