A Trump WH will harm the community, but this hyperbole doesn't help.

It isn't hyperbole.

They have already said they will round up "illegal" immigrants. Guess what, they won't look like Melania. They will look like "Mexicans" and "they" won't be able to tell the external difference between legal and illegal humans.

And then as the poem goes, then they will come after...

They are telling us EXACTLY what they will do. Listen to Trump's speeches, read Project 2025, listen to the Bannons and other Trump inner circle. They aren't kidding around.

What do people who have no legal right to be in the USA have to do with LGBTQ people who are US citizens?

You don't get it. The goal here is to create a white, Christian Nationalist country with women being subjugated.

Not Christian? Outsider.
Not white? Outsider.
Not straight? Outsider.
Not male? Baby machine.

Legal rights will no longer matter. How quaint that you aren't getting the GOP agenda.

Of course that's the goal of many people. The Bill of Rights stands in the way though. You're still not answering specific questions.

How will queer US citizens be placed under house arrest? What will the mechanism be?

You can't be this historically illiterate.

You can't be this bad at having a discussion.

OK, since you're being willfully obtuse: FBI? Local police? Both?

You think the Federalist Socirty lackeys he's put in place in the judiciary are going to stop him? They've already given him a pass to violate laws under the color of "official" acts.

When someone pokes holes in your argument that is completely lacking specifics you don't just get to stomp your feet and call them obtuse.

On what charges will the FBI and local police lock up masses of queer people?

Yes, there are millions of Americans, many with lots of power, who would like LGBTQ people to go back into the closet and never be able to come out.

That doesn't mean that masses of them will be placed under house arrest. If we can't honestly and accurately talk about specific threats then Project 2025 is going to achieve a lot of its goals.

Because THEY ARE being specific.

And I think you're missing the point. It doesn't matter what the charges are, or even if the charge is "being LGBTQ" - the guardrails are gone. Thinking the courts are going to stop ANYTHING Trump wants to do is wishful thinking. He's going to do it anyway and dare you to stop him - that's how he works and that's exactly the roadmap 2025 provides.

And I guess I disagree that the guardrails will be gone. Will they be damaged? Yes. There will still be laws and courts that protect citizens in many ways. There are fewer laws that limit the President, and more courts that protect him, but what protects us will not just be gone.

Obviously all trans healthcare will be banned regardless of age

Why do you say this? Why 'obviously'?

Adults with money in blue states will be able to do what they want/need.

As someone quoted in another thread today about abortion:

"Well, that's not a right guaranteed in the Constitution."

And yet it’s legal in many states. Just like trans health care will remain.

Dp- you need to follow along if you want to participate in this conversation.
Abortion will be illegal in all 50 states.
Trans healthcare will be illegal in all 50 states.

How do you figure?

Trump co would find a way to ensure Republicans won in 2028 “for the good of the country” and could very easily do it covertly with these sweeping new powers. So yeah, no, with our new monarchy system things are pretty bad.

The DNC’s talking points are out!

Explain to me how an “adult in a blue state” will access healthcare that is illegal in their state. How does that work?
The doctors and institutions that perform those procedures will not be offering them.
So again, how do they access that healthcare?

Nobody has established that under a 2nd Trump presidency abortion and trans health care will be illegal under federal law.

Laws can change. The president can now do pretty much whatever they want and justify it as an "official act." Project 2025 wants to redefine anything and anyone relating to LGBTQ as pornographic and obscene. You have to be purposefully obtuse to not see where this is going.

Hitler started with immigrants too. But the nature of fascists mean once the camps are built, they'll keep finding new people to toss into them. They'll keep using people's bigotry and racism to justify whoever the new target is, until you look around and that target is you.

And even this SCOTUS will not say that our Constitution allows us to make being queer illegal. Federal recognition of gay marriage may end, but there will be no state laws that it's illegal for adults to be gay or trans.

It would be really good if people could be realistic and not dismiss any counterpoint as obtuse.

That doesn't mean bigotry wlll be curtailed or state sponsored "hauling people off" would not happen. You really need to look at Germany in the 1930's to understand where we are headed if the GOP s successful, and no this is not being hystrionic.

So you're saying the Equal Protection clause is moot?

That's what is happening when you say gay marriage will end. If that's true, then you can also begin to reintroduce segregation by race.

Segregation by race is an idea of the left these days. We are already seeing it in things like electeds of color events to color based safe spaces. Fight all the stupid, not just one sides.

Please google the comstock act. This has been discussed all over these threads. No excuse for you to be in the dark on any of this.

There needs to be a post-watergate cleansing and reconfiguration of the GOP. Perhaps going center right and trying to capture a pro-choice/pro-environment middle and leave the progressive to the Dems, but at some point, the era of kowtowing to the religious fanatics and racists in our country has to stop.

Why should kowtowing stop with the GOP? What about the Dems? How far left can they go?

Sweetheart, we don’t have an actual Time Machine. So no, we only have their proposed policies. But I am taking them at their word.
And the RNC is proposing fetal personhood, so… that’s that.

There’s nothing healthy about female teens and young women slicing off their breasts. Nothing.

But the AMA certainly loves the mega profits.

Most of Europe is now banning such egregious mutilations.

Half the states don't even allow this and most doctors will not perform such procedures on minors, so your worries are really unfounded.

The right's fascination with trans is really bizarre and overstated.

The silver lining is that (if we don’t go down the totalitarian path) they’ll be another election in four years and Trump will be as old and enfeebled as Joe is now.

Any thoughts on what a 2028 matchup might look like? It’s interesting because it could be a clean slate and neither party has done a good job of promoting younger candidates.

President Harris will be running for re-election in 2028.

DP...the GOP has told us flat out they want an abortion ban, an IVF ban and bans or limits on contraception.
