Would you date a MAGA?

No!

I grew up about 20 minutes from Mike Pence. I know a LOT of and am related to a lot of Republicans. I dated a lot of them back in the day. I can date/marry anyone who's a moderate but if I had to choose between a MAGA and an extereme liberal, I'd choose the extreme liberal. I could never have anything more than a surface relationship with someone who so clearly holds others in contempt, especially women.

I feel the same way.

No one in any personality cult is a reject by default.

Nope. I would rather die alone than marry a MAGA. Not worth it.

I was going to say the same thing. And celibate. No thank you.

But I feel like it IS hard to maintain relationships with MAGA people - they have a super specific viewpoint and a hard time deviating from it - and a big part of the lifestyle is anger. Another big part is it’s almost like evangelical Christianity - you have to constantly be trying to preach it or you’re not doing it right.

I’ve dated and, ahem, enjoyed Republican women - people who have a different and sometimes completely 180 view on politics but we’ve always been able to agree on, like, Bud Light or Patagonia fleeces. I can deal with a friend, but I couldn’t date a MAGA woman - I feel like she wouldn’t be able to share so many of the things I like and value - television, books, etc

Btw, start your own thread if you want to talk about how hard it must be to date a Democrat, I don’t care to hear it.

spoken like a true blue one.

Specific political affiliation doesn’t matter but no far left or far right or anyone who can’t see the failings in their own party and leader.

I am fairly apolitical but pretty centrist in my values / beliefs. I have zero interest in someone who is really into politics. I have little respect for any politician.

Biden is not far left. Where did you get that idea?

OBVIOUSLY his/her extensive research and knowledge of Biden’s record.

Oh wait. . .

I could never.

By this stage you would have to be so stupid to believe what Trump claims, very amoral to be okay with how he has lived his life (both professionally and personally), very racist to be okay with how he perceives black and Hispanic people, very misogynistic to want to elevate as our representative on the world stage a man who thinks sexual assault is his perogative.

I could go on, but just no.

Absolutely not.

I love him but the manufactured outrage at every little thing, combined with saying things for shock value like a child is a turnoff. I love everything else about him but we're still pretty early on in dating and Idk that I can spend the next 50+ years listening to him screech about every little thing Democrats do.

That giant red thing you see flapping all over the place is a RED FLAG. Please heed it!

Well, one, being condescending to people is a good way to get them to double down.

But two, I do think we will see more of this. Washington Post had an op-Ed by the editorial board about needing more mixed marriages politically, because without mixed marriages we lose bipartisan discourse. There was a lot of blowback from liberal women. Of course I suspect the MAGA men the Post wants them to marry are not exactly concerned about bipartisan discourse either.

OP should hook you and his friend up if you are single

I can tolerate differences in opinions among friends and loved ones. Different opinions on foreign policy, abortion? Sure, as long as we're respectful.

But full on MAGAs are not someone I have a difference in opinions with: we have fundamentally different values and morals, and I can't associate with that willingly.

No. Those people are mentally ill.
