Would you date a MAGA?

I have a friend who is MAGA - well, actually I believe he has progressed to RFK jr - and he was shocked that another MAGA friend has had liberal friends break it off with him.

But I feel like it IS hard to maintain relationships with MAGA people - they have a super specific viewpoint and a hard time deviating from it - and a big part of the lifestyle is anger. Another big part is it’s almost like evangelical Christianity - you have to constantly be trying to preach it or you’re not doing it right.

I’ve dated and, ahem, enjoyed Republican women - people who have a different and sometimes completely 180 view on politics but we’ve always been able to agree on, like, Bud Light or Patagonia fleeces. I can deal with a friend, but I couldn’t date a MAGA woman - I feel like she wouldn’t be able to share so many of the things I like and value - television, books, etc

Btw, start your own thread if you want to talk about how hard it must be to date a Democrat, I don’t care to hear it.

No, that's a bridge too far. I have conservative, Independent, and Republican friends. I could date in those categories. Marry, probably not. But a pro-Trump person? No, never.

Eh, I would definitely have sex with a MAGA person just for the experience. Yes, I’m weird and like to check a lot of boxes of experience. But date? Nah. FWIW, I’m liberal but not a die hard politico like so many of the insufferable DC types around here.

I am a centrist dating a MAGA and I am second guessing it. I love him but the manufactured outrage at every little thing, combined with saying things for shock value like a child is a turnoff. I love everything else about him but we're still pretty early on in dating and Idk that I can spend the next 50+ years listening to him screech about every little thing Democrats do.
