This is his mother (and step-mother):

Does anyone have a gift link to the Times article?

Here you go. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/29/fashion/weddings/judith-graves-maryellen-madden.html?unlocked_article_code=1.2U0.3H68.Vc6V2YuStyNp&smid=url-share

It is interesting that the wedding announcement does not mention her son at all.

Does sound like he had a drug problem. The fact that he and his mother moved a few months after the killing…..wonder if she knew. He probably came home pretty much a mess.

But why choose that house and so early in the day when it was likely someone was home. Does anyone know exactly where his family lived?

If you look at father & mother divorce document on MD case search, it shows their address. They lived in Kenwood, big corner lot house.

Here is the defendent’s attorney. Absolute rockstar when it comes to mounting DNA-based defenses, poking holes in DNA reliance, etc. I can only imagine initial retainer is low six figures

The defendant also has a brother. Neither are mentioned.

Criminals, particularly drug addicts, do all kinds of dumb stuff that lead to them getting caught.

This will be a podcast. I guarantee it.

Thanks for the link. It's haunting that the dad/husband seemingly knew all along that it was boyfriend. He warned his daughter about him before the murder even happened. I don't believe in afterlife but man I wish I did so I could think that wherever the dad/husband is, he sees this all playing out finally.

I am trying to answer your quote... and am not sure I am doing it correctly... BUT

I have felt the same...... about hoping there is an afterlife so her father can better rest.

THIS is what I find to be most important. Where is mother now. I am really thinking that SHE KNEW.

Her poor dad was right.

Why would she be home if she was away at college?

Someone who is abusing drugs may not have the best judgement.

One of my former private school boyfriends called up my mom at home during the school year, thought she was me, and cussed her out on the phone at length. He was in law school at the time and I was an undergrad.

The accused killer looks “off”. I can’t believe he was not interviewed when the crime happened and he was reported by a neighbor.

Yes i can’t get past the part about how he wasn’t even interviewed. The dad suspected him and so did the tipper/ neighbor. Did the detective do a crap job or know the guy and his family. Tragedy all around.

Huge botch by Moco police to not even interview him after a tip was submitted let alone getting a DNA sample.

I’m sure it sounded like a weird tip—a HS boyfriend from several years prior with no history of stalking or anything? It is bizarre unless you know he’s an addict robbing houses to feed his addiction.

I agree. MoCo blew it. Not even an interview let alone DNA testing.

I read the daughter attended the bond hearing. I can’t even imagine. Someone her family was close to for 5 years; vacationed with and then had an amicable break up. That guy is a psychopath.
