MoCo Cold Case Cracked After 23 Years- Leslie Preer

I was not living in DC at the time and don't remember this case, but it was local and I am sure many of you did. Didn't see anything on it in the forums.

Incredible update in a murder from 23 years ago in Chevy Chase: https://www.fox5dc.com/news/ex-boyfriend-charged-2001-chevy-chase-moms-murder-after-dna-match

Yes I saw this! I don’t understand the story though.

People who grew up in Kenwood/Somerset/CCMD in the 1990s know both the perp and the victim’s family. The victim’s daughter dated the perp for a few years in high school.

Then a few years later he allegedly murdered his ex-GF’s mom when he was 21. It’s been a cold case ever since. The victim’s daughter ran into him at a DC restaurant last year and he was totally normal.

Genetic geneology is wild. Lots of local people know the people involved in this case. Everyone is flabbergasted

I remember the case.
This explains it better.
Victim' daughter's then-boyfriend.

What is the motive? Was he stalking her?
Anonymous
So I wonder why killed her?

Did he break in the house and she caught him?

Was he stealing from them?

Was he having an affair with her?

So many questions!

So many questions! Did he give a blood sample back then?

I need more details to come out.

More details, the daughter is giving interviews:

This will be a podcast. I guarantee it.

It is crazy that he was mentioned early on and there were a couple of tips and he was never even interviewed.

Sad story.

He remarried and has DV charges in 2021

So sad.

Thanks for the link. It's haunting that the dad/husband seemingly knew all along that it was boyfriend. He warned his daughter about him before the murder even happened. I don't believe in afterlife but man I wish I did so I could think that wherever the dad/husband is, he sees this all playing out finally.

The dad was a suspect! (of course he was....it's usually the husband in these cases)

And I'm sure friends/family/acquaintances whispered about him and his potential culpability. Having to live with that and then dying before justice is served simply isn't fair.

What was he doing at 21? Was he in college (local?), home on break, still living at home? And the ex gf whose mom this was, was she away at college when this happened?

Sounds like they triangulated him via broader family DNA.

I always thought it was the husband. Feeling pretty crappy now.
