I'd be careful with Washington and Jefferson-they look like their on their way out with enrollment issues and a small endowment. Same with Juniata, Chatham (whose really in crisis), and Susquehana. The private liberal arts colleges are really taking a tumble in debts |
Definitely possible. It has a 70%+ acceptance rate! |
That's true. I know some recent grads and current students - I don't know if the schools are in immediate danger (during the student's enrollment), although being an alum of a college that will exist in the longterm is certainly more appealing. |

OP here. Thanks for the recommendations and keep them coming. Especially the recommendation about the Facebook group. That stuff is gold.
I do have hope for next year because she’s taking 3 AP classes and I think she will be able to get a handle on it. She had a tough beginning of the year last year, including having Covid, and never quite recovered. We are going to branch out a bit and also make sure that the major that she picks is a fit for her and also the school, and also not one of the more competitive majors. (Eg business, etc) |
| What is she interesting in studying again? |
The SUNY are worth taking a serious look at. All my friends and relatives have gone and they loved their experience and are successful. They are under rated IMO |
Stupid post. Newhouse is its own animal and very competitive. A 3.3 student with a 1200 is in the mix depending on major. |
| University of Scranton. 80% acceptance rate. They have a lot of majors including business, catholic, and high graduation rate 83% which is a lot better than a place like ODU(52% grad rate) for instance. |
My friend's kid is rhere and loves it. Worth a look. |

Tampa, Dickinson, and Pitt all seem unlikely. Lots of other good suggestions, though.
OP, my kid had similar stats and got waitlisted from JMU. |
My son got into these with good merit money. Loyola MD (he chose this one), St Joe’s, Duquesne, Scranton, Manhattan, La Salle, Seton Hall. He had a 3.3 from a Catholic HS but there are plenty public school students at these schools and many non-Catholics. GL! |
Ability to pay is the main admission criterion at Tampa. If your old man can fork over full freight, you're in like Flynn. |
| PSU branch campus like Altoona for 2 years then you can go to Penn State University Park for last 2 years. |
| Bump. Looking for more suggestions |
| Rollins or Assumption with merit? |
