Herndon high - what’s going on?

No way, man! Don't crowd up South Lakes. It's working on a decent reputation now and doesn't need to become overcrowded.

You should welcome this. Kids that transfer come from very involved helicopter-ish parents who will benefit the school's test scores. Overcrowded schools are actually desirable in FCPS.

In dual enrollment classes, kids have higher grades for college than they do for high school — for the same dang class. If anything, HHS is harder than others in it’s district.

That is ridiculous. If I was a parent there, I wouldn’t stop screaming until things changed.

God no. FCPS loves it when more students go private.

I would have my kid drive 50 miles to not go to Herndon.

That is one of the reasons the PTA President and others quit recently. They sent a letter to the principal and FCPS. They were told they were too entitled. Uhhhh. The colleges are giving a higher grade than the bastardized SBG system she implemented yielded. I wish I was making this up. The principal is a one woman wrecking crew.

After hearing this, I agree

The principal has done a lot of damage in 2 years.

Again, if I had a DC who receives special education, I would not select HHS.

Sweeping staff changes this school year in that particular department with some wink wink interesting change of job titles and some quiet transfers.

Let’s just say the department in insular and hires from within - they look out for each other .

Why haven’t the parents done more?

Why is it the fault/on the parents to do more? The parents have been vocal. Teachers have been vocal. At the end of the day, it’s on Gatehouse.

Parents ARE screaming. And some DE teachers started quietly raising FCPS grades to match DE grades, without any additional reassessments. Because no one will complain as long as grades are going up. So now some classes in that same school have hw counted towards final grade while school-wide this is forbidden. That is how much of a mess this school is today. All thanks to Noto.

Typical DCUM. Langley parents threaten to go running to Jeff over any talk of redistricting part of Langley to Herndon but it’s OK for some trolls who ought to be banned to bash Herndon repeatedly.

Herndon parent here again. I met with principal in Oct Nov Jan and March. We are trying to be heard. A letter was sent and signed by something like 80 parents of juniors and it was totally ignored by Reid, Tyson and others. Our PTA quit because Noto berated the president so bad for standing up for the students. The teachers don’t know their left hand from their right anymore because everything has been flipped so upside down. Please I would love for some advice on what else parents can do.

Yep. and some were mot parents of juniors who signed.

When FCPS sent people to do focus groups on FCPS grading policies, parents were confused because FCPS grading policies are not the same as what is used at HHS. The HHS grading system is harder than Langley. Based on the change, the grade inflation at other Dranesville schools is more apparent.
