Herndon high - what’s going on?

Current Assistant Principal was the one who got arrested for grand larceny after shoplifting at Target. Herndon hired her.

Standard based instruction this year brought down test scores in all but the failing kids. Principal lied and said FCPS made her do it. Parents are pissed off

Sounds typical for FCPS, nasty triggered parents with mental issues and corrupt garbage in human form teachers committing theft and fraud hired by the system. Pathetic.

My takes: lots of gang activity between students somewhat new to the country.
Lots of fight (see gang activity)
Drug use (honestly, it’s at every HS).
Admin/counselors who try to push kids out for non-attendance or just bothersome behavior.
Same admins/counselors not wanting to take kids back that have fulfilled their conditions at the alternative school.

If I get the gist of this thread it’s that the threat to Herndon High kids is the SBG equity push and not the gang situation?

I’m really fascinated by those sentiments.

DP. The threat to the college-bound kids is SBG. The threat to the kids who are new to the country and might have a shot is not kicking out the kids who are fighting and disruptive in class (true at every school but especially at schools where some of the kids have never had formal education and are vulnerable) . The threat to both groups is bad administration and proliferation of fentanyl although drugs are at every high school including the wealthy ones.

This is very accurate.

The current administration has ruined things and somehow believes she is championing the underprivileged. I can tell you first hand that parents in both groups are dissatisfied. The community is strong, so if there is an admin change soon, it will come out OK.

I get a kick out of this because the SB’s push is likely looking to pull part of Langley into this mess because equity. But it seems like current Herndon High students have to take the equity medicine too.

Kinda makes you wonder who exactly does Robyn Lady represent? Perhaps a grift college admissions side business?

Admin change is only option.

Is there speculation that they will announce a change to SBG at the end of the year? At the 11 June meeting? Or is this just wishful thinking?

I think Noto is going to double down.

Yea I agree. She’s too hard-headed to actually put the kids first and admit she was wrong.

Can anyone explain why the students at HHS don’t have finals? Is this related to standard based Instruction too?

Good luck. A lot of the schools in Western Fairfax would much rather play pass the trash than actually fire an incompetent administratior.

SPEd department at HHS is like a cabal with lots of cronyism and to think that the admin overseeing this department in charge is a convicted shoplifter.

Why so many staff changes in SPEd this school year? One staff member apparently got a demotion and quiet transfer.

The PP will never tell us. She just likes to control where OTHER people’s kids go to school.

Students at Madison don’t have finals. They have projects. The grades go up the last quarter.

Except in math and science . Because the optional cumulatives are incredibly difficult. Required to get 100 percent to get an A. My student knows very few who were able to raise their grade.
Anonymous
As in a student has less than As in all quarters and needs 100% to pull up grade to A or are you saying need 100% for final to get A for year at all (even if have all As in each quarter) because final counts so much?
