Herndon high - what’s going on?

I’ve heard that there is a lot of turmoil going on at Herndon High this year.My daughter will be starting there in the fall. I would like to learn what’s going on.

Let’s see.: Principal was kicked out of a Loudoun school because the parents hated her. Herndon hired her.

Current Assistant Principal was the one who got arrested for grand larceny after shoplifting at Target. Herndon hired her.

Standard based instruction this year brought down test scores in all but the failing kids. Principal lied and said FCPS made her do it. Parents are pissed off

Is standard based instruction the same as standards based grading that has all the Madison threads? So Madison was required to do it by FCPS and part of test/review of it where they had feedback meetings, but Herndon principal implemented on her own?

Madison principal also implemented on her own - no one made her - Gatehouse did not make her do this. She deserves full credit for her mess.

Nope it just evens the playing field. It allows the low achieving kids to get D’s and maybe Cs instead of failing while the high achieving kids scores go down from As to Ba and Cs.

In Herndon, this year everyone with parents loud enough will get an A. Principal just announced last Monday (a week ago) that anyone can retake any standard without risk of lowering their grade. No deadlines but last day of school. As many retakes as they want. Teachers were notified over email the night before.

Will these loud parents be taking the retakes? I don’t get how the parents have anything to do with the grade.

Special Education department is a mess. Tochterman the Shoplifter is the AP and administrator of Special Education at Herndon.

Questionable staffing and hiring practices of that entire department.

The principal from Loudoun you’re referring to is the current principal of Herndon MS, not HS. She is terrible
