We lost a close friend a few years ago to a lethal combination of prescription drugs and alcohol. To this day, his mother doesn't tell people the cause of his death; we assume it's because it's too painful (and maybe a bit embarrassing) for her to tell people his death could have been prevented. His death was 100% NOT a suicide, just a heartbreaking case of carelessness.

Of course it's normal to be curious. You're human. And that does not mean you are a bad friend.
