"Teachers’ role in parental rights became a topic after Brenda Diaz, a former Montgomery County Public Schools teacher turned homeschool educator, shared her opinions on parental rights during the event’s Q&A portion. She said with the lack of cooperation between parents and the schools, there will be no overall improvement.

“If we continue along this divide where the school system and parents are clashing, then we will continue to see failure in the school system,” said Diaz. “We will continue to see our children suffering."

And you have a problem with which part of what she said?

Nothing. But someone asked if there was proof she was Moms for Liberty. So there's the proof.

I read that article. It talks about Moms4Liberty but doesnt' state she's a member. They just quoted her in an article on some of the topics.

I read the article and don’t see where it says that Diaz is a Mom’s for liberty member. I don’t see any proof of that and if somebody is spreading lies about her then that makes them just as bad as Mandel. I’m not voting for Mandel but I am planning on voting for Diaz.

Out of curiosity what benefits does being in the BoE bring? Health insurance? Pension?

Honor and glory. It's a part-time position so it pays about $25k/year.

Honor? Really? How so?
Glory or shall we say the gossip is their perk, if you are into that sorta stuff.

Do not understand why a parent believing in home schooling is trying to be on the Board of Education? To take away votes?

Because the Board of Education sets policy about more than just full-time students at MCPS? It provides other services too. And also because she’s a taxpayer too and can have an opinion?

IEP-type services are available to kids not enrolled in MCPS, at private schools, etc. plus the homeschool certification issues. Also if you think MCPS sucks, then by all means put your kids elsewhere but ALSO you’re welcome to run for BOE to try to fix the problems!

We all know that MCPS can not be fixed by a candidate alone like this one. So exactly how is MCPS going to be "fixed?"

You think MCPS is unfixable? Interesting concession.
