BOE - who are people voting for?

Love this... I'll either vote for the apple ballot or the rebels. The current folks have ran MCPS into the ground while enjoying their brand new offices.

Can someone confirm that both Mandel and Diaz are homeschooling their kids and do not have any children in MCPS? Are their kids in MCPS virtual academy? don't know but I don't think it is a requirement to be a parent of a current mcps student (or a former student?), or maybe not even a parent? Read one candidate was a former [MCPS?] teacher so that counts for experience with and within MCPS. Tying to understand what they can add to county's BOE. And did I hear correctly that the election for Student Member of Board, where students in grades 6-12 vote, is approaching? I know it doesn't matter for the adult voters but encourage your kids to vote for SMOB whenever that date is.

Haven't clicked the above links yet. Did Diaz have her children attend MCPS for any period of time before she started homeschooling? Mandel homeschools/ed all her children? Does she have experience with a public school in any capacity - as a parent, teacher, staff, admin, exec, consultant etc.? How do you assist on a Board if you don't? Genuinely asking.

The board can't bring SROs back, only the county executive and council can.

Funding-wise, you are correct. However, the council will take the lead from the BOE. If the BOE asks for SROs, I think it would be difficult for the council to say not to the request.

It's not hard for anyone to find online seriously people I get some people want change at MCPS fine but Bethany Mandel is not the answer nor is Diaz. Liars belong no where near the kids. Mandel has spoken at many Moms4Liberty events Diaz has as well. Why are they not putting it on their profiles? We know why because they are liars.

I used to be in DCPS and saw Melissa Kim transform Deal from a decent school to a great school. She has my vote for at-large.

Not sure yet for D2 -- I won't be voting for any incumbents, so no to Smondrowski.

For D4, Stewart--this was an easy choice for me because Evans is an incumbent and Mandel a homeschooler.
