How much do you spend on food per month? Do you eat grass fed meat only, or "normal" meat, or organic meat only? What are your standards for milk and butter? How do you maintain meal variety? Do you allow using herbs and spices (not meat)? |
This is completely irresponsible both as parents and as a citizen of this planet. |
what's "certified" keto? |
Have you tried going Keto instead? |
I'll give you fiber, but can you name a single nutrient you can't get in a reasonable quantity via a carnivore diet? |
The biological impact of a single child is far, far greater than that of a carnivore diet. This is because non-food products have a far greater CO2 and environmental impact than food products. Do you call all soon-to-be parents "completely irresponsible" for making a decision with far greater environmental impacts than that of the carnivore diet? |
This is a joke right? What are you getting from meat that’s also in broccoli, blueberries, wheat, etc.? |
OP here. After stepping on the scale today, I’ve decided to do a trial-run of the carnivore diet. I have been on and off keto for 10+ years, so I think it’ll be an OK adjustment. Wish me luck! |
DP. Vitamin C? That’s not in meat or dairy . Antioxidants like flavonoids are only found in plants. |
I’m not surprised. Too much sugar and carbs and fiber can inflame the intestines. I’m sure your doctor knew from experience cutting those down may work. |
Why raw milk? My understanding is that there are no peer-reviewed studies out there that find that the nutritional benefits are notable and the very real risk of illness seems like a non-starter to me. My husband has family with a small farm and they are adamant that they never drink raw milk, they always boil it, even though they take very good care of their cows, because it's an unneccesary risk. |
OP here with an update, in case anyone is interested.
I’m on day 6 of the diet and 7lbs down. I feel great - my hunger is well-controlled and I have zero sugar cravings. I recognize the 7lbs is water weight, so it will be interesting to see what the next couple weeks bring. I’d planning to do it for a month and then reevaluate. I’m already at a normal weight (BMI 22-23), so I expect slow results. I’d be very happy with 1lb per week. |
Not a carnivore diet but I eliminated all grains a few weeks ago and the bloat I’ve had my entire life disappeared almost immediately. I eat fruit though (low fodmap fruit) and veggies (low fodmap veggies). I keep my meats to mostly dark meat (turkey, chicken and also fish). Eat nuts. Feel much better. Took a urine test for other reasons and noticed some ketones in my urine (also some crystals ugh hope not getting kidney stones from this!!) |
Also eliminated all added sugars. And only eat honey. |
