Truly curious about this… if someone was prescribed Ozempic to lose a lot of weight (say 100 pounds) would insurance stop covering it if they were within 25 pounds of goal weight?

No. The provider explains that the patient is making good progress on the drugs and the insurance continues to cover. I don't know if the answer changes once you've maintained at your healthy weight for a while.

I get my compounded semaglutide from the Leesburg compounding pharmacy. My doctor wrote me a prescription for Wygovy and insurance would have covered it for me but I couldn’t find it anywhere. And my insurance would require an office visit each time the dosage needed to be changed. So I decided to pay out of pocket and had my doctor rewrite the prescription for semaglutide. The pharmacy charges $75 for a 2.5mg vial. They compound the medicine then send it off to a lab for testing before they can sell it. I’ve gotten great results so far.

Do we truly know the long term effects of these drugs? Everyone I know on it has indeed lost weight but they look sickly. No fat, no muscle mass, skin just laying on bones. It is as if they were deprived of nutrients.

I have 25 pounds to lose. I do workout regularly but am menopausal and am really having a difficult time with diet. Insurance won’t cover weight loss drugs for me. My BMI is close to normal.
