What makes a family give lunchables for lunch every day?

Anonymous
I didn’t send Lunchables but I used to volunteer a lot. You’d be surprised how many of the holier than thou parents super healthy lunches were either thrown out or traded. The kids who had Lunchables happily ate theirs and were often the envy of the table.
Lol I love this! I am a lunchables mom!

The unhealthiest thing about lunchables are the excessive plastic packaging. Cheese, crackers and turkey lunch meat really aren't the worst thing in the world to give a kid.

DS doesn't like deli meat so he's never had a lunchable. But are they that much worse than say a turkey sandwich with cheese that mom made? Or are turkey sandwiches looked down on now too?

We paifld for feeding therapy for 3 years for our son, but he still is a picky eater. I gave him lunchable for packed lunch sonetimes when I am out of ideas what to pack lunch or too busy. I made him eat a tiny piece of veggie yesterday dinner, he vomitted all over his shirt & pant at dinning table.

Problem eaters, kids with ARFID, etc. do not have a wide menu. They have an eating disorder. They can’t help it. The parents have paid for therapy and still failed. They are happy the DC can eat anything. Don’t judge, lady. Show some compassion. You haven’t walked in those parent shoes. It’s miserable.

Years ago, I would have been mortified to be seen with a lunchable. Fast forward 10 years and I have the pickiest of picky eaters. He tried a lunchable and loved it. We’ve gone to two nutritionists and feeding therapy. They all say “just let him eat whatever he wants.” So lunchables it is.

I think lunchables came out when I was a kid. They looked like the most awesome and delicious lunches a kid could ever wish for. One time they were on sale, and my mom bought me a couple. I was in heaven and so cool!!! (All the cool kids ate them) Alas we were poor, so that was a one time purchase.

Fast forward many years and I have kids now. One day they asked for lunchables and I know better about processed food now, but I bought them one. They were absolutely disgusting and thank goodness my kids didn’t like them either. So either they changed up the formula for the foods or, my kids have much better taste than I did when I was their age

I work full time and pack my kids lunch every day. I am exhausted. I don’t blame people for using school lunch or takeout.

OP here. What is the point of having kids if you don’t take good care of them? Food is one of the most important things for a kid - affects their physical health, mental health, immunity, mood. I can’t imagine throwing my hands up in the air and saying “Whatever, I am too busy. They can have crap every day.” The extreme picky eating/AFRID syndromes people are bringing up are rare and far between. Also interesting that people have enough time to flame on DCUM but not enough to plan healthy meals for their kids. Priorities, right?

Ok. We get it. No one loves their kids as much as you do. We all suck.

I hope that helps you feel better about yourself. I know I shouldn’t make fun of people with self esteem problems, so I figured I’d take the high road.

Genetics trumps any organic food your little heart prepares for your insufferable kids

Lunchables are a gateway drug.

Soon your kids will be vaping in middle school.

Well, my kids are in college so I don't really spend much time tip-toeing through my garden to pick organic vegggies to cut up for their snacks. But I also don't spend much time being a supercilious b** about everything, either.

People like you OP really are the worst.

I'm having a lunchable for breakfast. Delicious.

Maybe go out and make a nightshade and hemlock smoothie for yours?

I am guessing this is the answer with the family OP is judging as well. The kid likes it and it is easy. And neither of my kids has ever had a lunchable, I packed healthy lunches all through ES, they are now old enough that they pack their own lunch, and I am still not judging. Try it, OP.
