+1 this sound seriously nuts to me, personally. Weight is often going to change in your 40s. Bodies change and 15 lbs is within a normal range for a shift, as another person said sometimes your happy weight shifts through life. Weight is also not as good of an indicator of health or morbidity as people think, at least not in the range you’re talking. Exercise is actually a much greater predictor. You’ve got that going well. I would ditch this doc and keep doing what you’re doing. |
It seems that 16/8 is not therapeutically strong enough for weight loss or lowering inflammation to benefit your autoimmune conditions or you would not be posting. Way cheaper to work with an expert and experienced team re: IF and autoimmune + weight loss, with no risk of permanent GI issues, and with likely benefit to your autoimmune issues as a first step? |
That is why I suggested OP work with Fung's team, who are very experienced, and not just wing it. |
I wish you could just enjoy your healthy life.
It sounds like you are a healthy weight, eat healthy, exercise healthy and I bet you also look healthy and great. You are very fortunate. Try to just be happy. |
What is a holistic doctor? What are their credentials? |
This. I mean where does it stop? I assume you need to stay on the original meds? So, losing 15 on a weight loss drug is great. But if you’re not going off the original meds, won’t it just come right back? |
You have plateaued. I get it. You haven’t lost any weight at all after starting a heavy exercise regime and eating right. Just keep doing it. Eventually, the weight will come off. I’m in my late 40s and had a similar experience. I could not lose the ten pounds I’d gained from pregnancy. I exercised and ate well, but got nothing. It took two freaking years, TWO, before I lost a pound. Five years later, all the extra weight is off. It takes longer in our 40s, but it will happen, you have to keep going. Do not take drugs! |
Where are you getting this from? Alcohol clears the system pretty fast. I swear this is one of the worst places to get health and fitness advice. |
And that’s exactly why I need this and you don’t. That’s the point. For legs I do 50 lbs and arms I do 30 lbs (15lb dumbbells and 25 pound dumbells) |
OP your A1C sounds like you may have some insulin resistance, which comes from SSRIs. Are you still on the SSRI? if so, maybe try metformin first (I’m not a doctor btw). If off the SSRI, keep up your routine but it will take time to reverse insulin resistance. Eventually it will work. No reason to take SG and it might set you back. |
Or I can take a low dose and not have to wait 5 years. |
Okay, not OP, but what ARE the risks of SG? Serious question. I haven't gotten up the courage to ask my PCP about it because I feel vain/lazy (but I have more like 40 lbs to lose). |
Thank you! Yes I went off a few months ago! What is ideal A1C? |
Your BMI is 24.2. A healthy weight.
Your blood pressure and cholesterol are okay. And you want to take a weight loss drug with so many risks? Absurd. |
The only reason weight lifting helps with weight loss is because it builds muscle and hence your resting metabolic rate. You’re probably not getting enough muscle growth, despite your heavy weightlifting, to cut back on cardio the way you have with just walking. You probably need more intense cardio to burn more calories, too. Everyone keeps saying that, but you refuse to hear it. You want the drugs that may or may not help you lose those 15 pounds, but that will surely put the nail in the coffin of your metabolism once you inevitably stop taking them. Proceed as you wish. There is no stopping you because you’ve made up your mind anyway. |
