As a single woman who cooked before I was an empty nester I find cooking a big waste of time and money.
I could do cereal for breakfast, sandwich/soup for lunch and order out for cheaper than chicken cooking for myself dinner every night. It’s essentially impossible to buy a serving of a 1/4 lb of chicken/beef/pork. |
You know meat lasts longer than one day, right? |
New York City? That's the place where doing this is practical. NYC kitchens are terrible, and restaurants are high quality and cheap. |
Frozen meals are super wasteful too. |
What do you get? |
| I don’t see the issue. |
| I would not. And I married a man who doesn’t cook. He has other great qualities but I probably wouldn’t do it again. |

I'd have to see a paycheck before deciding BUT if he didn't mind me cooking for myself and he still did takeout it wouldn't bother me one bit. One less bell to answer. One less egg to fryyyyyyy !
That paycheck though better be good for all that to happen. I'm not about to struggle with bills while he eats his goodies. That would be a firm NO. My husband does all the cooking since he retired. We made that deal long ago and I don't miss cooking one bit. He made some peanut butter fudge and chocolate fudge the other day. It felt like my birthday ! Yesterday he made chicken and vegetable soup. Day before chili. Day before that BBQ ribs and loaded baked potatoes. I know when it's time to wake up in the morning by smelling good cooking. I do the baking still but I love that. |

It's weird. I would think the takeout for Tuesday would be gross by then.

| Pizza could potentially last a long time (although it wouldn’t be as good at 4-5 days old as when it’s fresh), but he’s eating the pizza before the Greek food. I’m terribly curious about what Greek food he’s ordering on Saturday and not eating until eat until Thursday. Is he letting meat sit in his fridge for 5 days while he eats other things? I’m also curious about what he eats when he goes out on Fridays? Does he usually eat the same thing every Friday night or does he mix it up that one day a week? |
not everyone lives around a TJ. I joked with DH that when we are empty nesters, we are going to live off of TJ prepared meals, chips and salsa, and crackers and cheese and fruit. |
| I think it’s fine. Everyone is different. (I eat almost all my meals at home, but that’s me!) |
no.. I did take out a lot, and I am a woman, no sn. I hate cooking. |
| Nope. He's going to make a horrible husband/dad. |
Me too! I see nothing wrong with this. |
