They will still close. I work at one and might or might.have the inside scoop. I hope you won’t be to upset when it’s called in the morning. ⛄️

I suport the decisions of the school! Its a hard position, I did it for my company before remote working was the standard for all.

Roads are terrible. I don’t even think I’ll be able to get my kids to school w a 2 hr delay. It was a mistake for me even to go out today.

What a joke - no wonder students aren’t as happy as they used to be.

Our school does one snow day, then virtual learning.

Which schools are doing that?

People up thread were bragging about their school doing that.

Just got home -- the roads are bad. Multiple accidents.

"Big 3" only exists in your mind. So no.

2-3 inches on bridges that wont yet be cleared?

Why wouldn't they be cleared?

They treated roads over the weekend, the treatment chemicals have now washed off. Some roads are wet and will freeze tonight especially bridges, then the 1-4 inches of snow will stick to the roads.

Are you one of those parents that lives in VA and sends their kid to DC schools and expects the schools to close every time it snows? We live one block from my children's private and they can walk easily. I hope schools do not close.

Are you one of those parents who think teachers who aren't paid enough to live in your neighborhood should risk their lives to teach your child because you pay a lot of money for school?

I was on the board of my kids private school that often is discussed here. This is their policy: the head of the school plus the division heads and the director of the grounds crew calls our meteorologist consultant (many school’s pay to get very specialized and by the minute forecasts and don’t depend on the CWG or the Accuweather app) to get a forecast. Then the HOS gets on a conference call with many of our peer HOS and they all discuss what they think they’re going to do. After that HOS, heads of each school division, head of grounds crew add the communication director make a final decision and an email/text is sent

So usually there are at least 3 phone calls starting at 4:30am. I imagine all the big schools do something similar.

Fairfax County has already closed.

I’m on the board of a local private. It’s much easier from a liability perspective to have a hard rule of following a county. I would be nervous not to and be open and god forbid there’s an accident, potentially it could open the school to liability. Should be excused under act of god but would still be a pain to deal with.

Tell this to my school. Ever since covid and getting a new head we’ve stopped following the county and teachers with kids have to scramble.

Bullis is on a two-hour delay. They will reassess in the morning and make a decision by 7am.

Ugh I wish schools would just call it already—the best part of the snow day is sleeping in—not waking up to check if there is a snow day or not…

SSSAS just closed.

Were they originally 2 hr delay? Or they went ahead and called it?
