CWG is talking about public systems. Private schools that donât directly follow a public school system sometimes make more conservative decisions because they know their students and teachers are driving in from across the DMV. Personally I think thereâs a very high likelihood of almost all the DMV privates having at least a delay, regardless of what the public systems do. |
And sometimes they go the other way, because most of the families live in a narrower geographic area than an entire county. Our school in Bethesda usually faced weather conditions similar to DC, and sometimes had only a delayed opening when MCPS closed due to conditions in Damascus and Ashton. |
Iâm more cynical. When itâs a close call on school close vs delay, the choice depends on how many emails the head usually gets making one call over the other. Some schools have parents that prefer schools stay open no matter what. Those schools are more likely to have a delay. Administrators reading this please err on the side of caution. Do your best not to think about what families want and choose what is more safe!!! Thank you for all you do. ![]() |

Hate seeing that some schools will hold classes âvirtuallyâ
What a joke - no wonder students arenât as happy as they used to be. |
Do most schools wait to see what the Big 3 do before announcing? |
Which schools are doing that? |
Not what the big 3 are doing, just what peer schools are doing. They all call each other. |
