That’s the sort of gift list we give to our MIL who is like this every year. She’s the one buying the gaming systems, iPhones, Apple Watches, Nintendo switch, etc. She also buys all the expensive sporting/camping gear, luxury clothing, etc. Basically, anything that is expensive, we put it on MIL’s list.

At first I reacted like you, OP. But then I realized I could take advantage of the gift giving and direct her to get all the things that the kids needed but that I didn’t want to spend money on. Like PP, she’s the one buying the laptops, gaming systems, iPhones, headphones, etc. She’s saving me a bundle by paying for all of these things.
