Loudon having success, field space, and resources is not good for FCV or VDA.

I get FCV but why is it not good for VDA? They're not not in close geographic proximity.

So it's perception.

You could argue that it's not good for VA Revolution (more so than VDA) since they're right next door and VA Revolution is largely competing with Loudoun for the rec and low level travel player base.

That’s what I heard too. 09 ECNL girls need a coach.

That rumor ended up being just a rumor. He is still at NVA and coaching the 09s with no plans to move.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I hear lots of money has started flowing to Loudoun/NVA coaches. Interesting to say the least.

Must be nice for a non-profit to just throw money at employees.....

Lots of promotions too!

I rather have money go to employees at a non-profit than what’s going on at FCV which is a for profit private equity owned club where money is flowing to investors so they can build up their gym and market gym memberships

Nobody is talking about FCV.

Why is there more money flowing at NVA/Loudoun?

These big clubs - like Loudoun - are essentially subsidized by the taxpayers, given their tax status and the fact that they are being handed taxpayer funded public field space for peanuts. It’s too bad the county doesn’t make them pay market rates - or least near market rates - for space if it’s clear they are raking in cash.

It’s because they are providing a community service for the taxpayers. Almost every municipality in the country does this. Very different model than a private equity company trying to sell gym memberships for 30% returns to high net worth and institutional investors, which is why the county won’t give the same rates to FCV.

So FCV must charge much more in fees…right? But they don’t.

The fact that someone is defending FCV makes it obvious. Why aren’t people all bent out of shape w Arlington, Brave, Union or every other travel team getting access to public field space?

Nobody has said Loudoun shouldn’t receive public field space. There were comments saying they seem to have a lot of cash to spend all of a sudden…that was said, but has yet to be expanded upon. Does Loudoun have more money to spend? Why? It’s a fair question and doesn’t portend that there is something necessarily wrong with them having - and spending - more money.

Bingo.

Some Loudoun parent on here always having to drag FCV into the mix after being offended by someone simply expressing that they find themselves feeling some sort of way that Loudoun can allegedly throw money at a coach.

What’s wrong with bringing up FCV as they are the primary competition for the disputed field space? If the argument is that Loudoun is making money so the county should make them pay more for fields, what should a $100m private equity backed club pay for the same fields? Probably more than a non-profit. How much money is TSJ making? They should disclose that before using public tax funded assets for profits to institutional investors that don’t reside in the county.

New name. Added more clubs. Imagine being the biggest club in the state and still feeling the need to add more clubs.

I guess that’s success?

They didn’t add clubs, they partnered with them. And at least one is dealing with internal pressure to pull out.

Would that be Valor or Great Falls? From what I understand, both clubs were excited to be a part of that "partnership" (although one wonders how the two smaller clubs benefit from that agreement).

PP - That’s absolutely fine with me.
