What are the odds of us getting out last choice? DCC

A benefit of ranking Wheaton and Blair first and second, is that you would still have a chance to be assigned to either of them in the second round. If you rank Wheaton then Einstein, then there is no way to be assigned to Blair (other than the magnet program), because if your home school is #2 then your rankings for 3-5 are irrelevant.

We are inbounds for Blair and I don't know anyone who got in from the regular DCC lottery. You can keep asking around, but I would not necessarily waste a spot trying to rank Blair in the DCC process.

Wait. Rereading your question, do you have a current 9th grader? That changes a lot of things. If you have a current 8th grader, that's one thing. If you have a current 9th grader, Blair magnet and Wheaton engineering are not on the table. You'll have to focus on the programs that start in 11th.

My daughter got into Blair on the second round of the lottery - we ranked it number 1 and our home school is Wheaton, so it does happen.
