Agree with this. Unless breast or cheeks are showing.

Last year’s homecoming dresses were all breasts and cheeks. I could not believe it.

Don’t forget cutouts! Side boob, ass cheeks, and cut outs!

Revolve.com has so many dresses from every contemporary designer out there. My daughter buys there a lot. They have everything from skank dresses to conservative. You can find dresses that no one will be wearing.

The nuns with the strict dress code are digging up corpses and putting them on display so I think the short skirts might be okay

Teen girls should find a cheap, short, small, tight dress makes them happy and go have the best time ever. It’s not like society ever gives women a window of time when you’re allowed to dress how you want without being criticized by pretty much everyone, so might as well enjoy it while you have a young body, parents who might pitch in to buy something, and friends to enjoy it with! I love seeing homecoming dresses on Instagram- it’s the closest thing left to the spring issues of Seventeen and YM!

I actually came to this conclusion after months of anxiety and angst over what my daughter would be wearing to homecoming. In the end, she looked gorgeous. I wish I hadn't made myself sick over it!

It will be a sea of short, tight cheaply made dresses with sneakers and they will look adorable.

You are so right. I have boys and their Homecoming pictures include a sea of girls in short, right dresses. I know my 15 y/o self would have worn exactly the same thing if I were a teen today!

I would have wanted to look exactly like that, had that been the style at the time.

This is why they have parents. Some parents are better than others.

LOL - enjoy your daughter now because ruling with an iron fist just ensures problems with your relationship in the future. She may cut you out or she may push back once she gets her freedom. A daughter controlled by her parents sometimes finds her ways into other controlling relationships because she has learned that the people who love you most are the ones who try to control you most. Ask me how I know.

Let them wear what they want and stop trying to impose your taste on them.

I came to this conclusion too. Now my daughter is in college and frequently sends me pictures of her going-out outfits. And you know what? She looks beautiful.

This.

I was also going to suggest lulu. My daughter got a super cute dress there for home coming. Short but ass and crotch covered. Fitted on top but wider skirt.
PS not all girls want to wear a short skin tight thing. My daughter finds those wildly uncomfortable. I hate how stores only give girls one choice so that they feel like a weirdo if they want something else.

This has been the style for a while, hasn’t it?
Is this just what it’s going to be from now on?

now there are more cut outs, so more skin showing …. We can still move in that direction to pasties and a thing next…

Wow. The serpent truly does come in all forms. But I think I'll take my chances that choosing to guide my daughter toward the virtue of leaving some parts of her flesh to the imagination while under 18, and hope for the best. I still think there will be plenty of time when she is in college to get crazy with the skanky-dress rebellion if she really feels a need.

I look back at my HS photos and wonder why I didn't appreciate all that beauty and youth.

This! At 60, I look back and wonder why the hell i wore a nightgown to prom (shout out to the earlier Gunne Sax poster!). I was so hot / beautiful then and basically buried myself in victorian style blouses, prairie skirts, and “tasteful” preppy clothes. Don’t do it, young people! Revel in your gorgeous youth.

That was the style. I loved my Victorian-style blouses and prairie skirts. Short/tight is fine. Not-short/not-tight is fine. Wear the clothes that make you feel like the Queen of the May, whatever those clothes might be. If Future You disapproves, too bad. And people who measure women's worth by square inches of skin clothed or unclothed can be disregarded altogether.
