| Help please! I don't mind my daughter wearing a tight, short dress, but I also don't want her to look like she's working the streets. Any tips on where to buy an appropriate and "not old lady" dress? |

Nordstrom. Saks. Bloomingdale’s.
Basically, the less expensive the store, the cheaper the clothes. |

We don't have a physical store in this area, but I think Dillard's has a good junior's department with decent options:

| Just let her pick her own dress and avert your eyes. |
+1 - DD ordered one from Dillards this year that she's happy with. Plus they ship very fast. |
Agree with this. Unless breast or cheeks are showing. |
| The tightest dress styled with some youthful, trendy accessories and shoes will be fresh and sort of innocent. |
| Macys. |
| Nordstrom |
Honest question who are you hoping will read the dress as “fresh and sort of innocent?” |
| Some day they will look back and cringe …. |

The dress is for her and her friends. Creeps are going to be creeps no matter what she wears and if someone is a creep it’s THEIR FAULT even if she picked a slutty dress.
There are a lot of reasons teens pick dresses we think are too short/tight. They want to be smaller, they want to be older, they want to be cool they want to be sexy they want to feel like someone or change into someone else or be exactly who they are. None of that hurts anyone, imo. I just don’t think this is a good parenting hill to die on because it’s much more about our feelings than theirs and our feelings don’t really need to go to homecoming. It’s not for us. |
| Even the cutest girls from the fanciest privates all look like cheap Vegas or game show hostesses. So unfortunate….. but my prom years were pretty pitiful too. White eyelet and pastel ribbons in the early 80’s. Does anyone remember Gunne Sax from late 70’s early 80’s? |
| Nope, they do not exist. Just let DD get whatever she wants, as long as there is no ass/breast literally hanging out. |
Or they'll look back and say damn I looked in high school. |
