| Pictures of the two Franke children were released recently - they are sickening. Something came to me as clear as day, I need to get more serious about not consuming internet content with children in it. I’ve slowly stopped watching a lot of this content over the years. I’ve known it’s exploitative and unethical. But I’d still watch funny videos on tik tok and follow families on Instagram. I think children are funny and adorable. But kids are not content. It’s not ethical, there aren’t enough protections in place. These kids deserve privacy and peace. Being a human is hard enough without strangers and even predators watching. I hate that my past viewership of family channels supported abusive situations like this one. I hope the Franke children have good therapists. I hope more people wake up to their own casual attitudes towards this issue. Protect kids, scroll past any content that includes them. |
| Those immoral women (the site does not allow me to call the the B-word) had a pantry full of food. The Ring video of the boy asking neighbors for help - his legs... i just started crying. |
It was not wrong. I don’t know if this pp was someone who is a friend or family member of these AWFUL, ABUSIVE, DISGUSTING CHILD ABUSERS, but they sure were invested in defending these terrible women. These child abusing monsters were abusing the kids and locking them in a safe. |
| My daughter is the same age as Shari and used to love watching 8 Passengers. I would often watch with her. She lost interest around the time they started doing the Connexions cult with Jodi (if I understand the timeline correctly). I am very interested in the pathology of Ruby and how this all spiraled- pre-Jodi, she just seemed like a strict, conservative Mormon mother...not my style, but I never got abusive monster vibes from her. The kids were very cute, well-spoken, didn't seem scared of her or Kevin, the family seemed bonded. Was the abusive side always latent within her? Was the brainwashing by Jodi that powerful? |
They slept in the same bed. The husband reported that they'd be in there and emerge very happy after seeing their "visions." |

I watched the 20/20 special last week and was horrified by the brief photos they showed. When I read a story online over the weekend, it also included photos with a warning about graphic content to come. I thought it would be those same photos as in the 20/20 story. I WAS WRONG. The photos that followed were SO much worse than what was shown on TV.
My stomach rolled and I gagged. As someone who watched 8Passengers for years, my heart broke for poor R & E. The wounds on R's legs were so deep and infected. I get shivers and tears in my eyes now just thinking about those photos. I wish I hadn't scrolled down to see them. |
I was thinking they were girlfriends too. Has this been confirmed? It’s pretty obvious that she left her DH to be with Jodi. |
| Thank god the neighbor was home, opened the door for the boy and called the police. While he was describing the boy he broke into tears. This is so so shocking that a mother can do this to her own child. |
| Are there many huge families that were functional. I just read an article about RFK Jr.'s childhood with 10 siblings. I know there are 2 sides, but it does sound like CPS would have been called these days. |
Horrifying.

| Where was the father in all of this? How long did he go without seeing all of his children and do nothing? |
Father if strange too. Apparently he allowed Jodi into their home and let her and his wife do odd things together including claiming to see other worlds. What is up with Mormons and these bizarre behaviors? It’s a little similar to the Lori Vallow case but fortunately nobody died. |
Were they getting high? |
For some reason they really saw Jodi as a guru, she had a bit of cult leaders status and reverence. She slowly cut the father off from all his friends and then from his family. Jodi lived with Kevin and Ruby for awhile and slowly controlled everything he did. He had to ask permission to eat or use the kitchen or go to certain rooms. He was then sent away to learn to repent and to learn to be a better man and to deal with his demons and was told that when Jodi felt he had done enough work, he could reunite. So he spent all his time trying to be who Jodi told him he needed to be. But no matter what he did she would only tell him how bad he still was and she eventually cut him off from everyone. He had been in isolation without any contact with friends or family for a couple months when Ruby was arrested. He hadn't seen his kids in a year as Jodi and Ruby believed he was evil and poison and couldn't be around them. He was very brainwashed into believing all this and had been desperately trying to be the husband Ruby deserved (based on what Jodi had told him). His first and second police interviews are worth a listen. In the first one he is still completely brainwashed and focused on Ruby. He was shocked when the police told him about the kids. By the second interview he had come out of the fog and he talked about the last hellish 18 months of his life. They weren't the only people that Jodi had abused in this way either. |
| It's been a while but I listened to Mormon Stories by a guy brainwashed by Jodi as well. She was Church-sponsored and recommended by church leaders to couples struggling in their relationships, so any devout LDS person would absolutely think she was legitimate, and set any criticism they had aside thinking she knows what she is doing if the Church says she is great. The 8 Passenger people were not her first victims: Her MO was alienating the wife from the dh and making the dh feel such deep shame for behaviors like watching porn they would just be shamed into letting it happen. |
