Japanese people on average tend to have among the highest life expectancies in the world. In large part due to diet and lack of obesity. Of course Japanese people eat more than sushi, but even so fish, rice, and vegetables are core components of the Japanese diet and very healthy. Even more so compared to American diets. I wonder how many people fretting over sushi healthiness eat pizza, sandwiches, cookies, sugary granola bars, and Frappuccinos on a weekly basis. |
Japanese only eat a few pieces at a time. Not truckload of it like Americans (plus all other junks you mentioned) |
Very healthy and very low calorie.

LOL okay.. |
If you've ever bought grocery store sushi (Wegmans or whatever) the ingredient list is disturbing to look at. It's not "fish and rice". It's super long.
But the worst thing about grocery store sushi is that it's not any cheaper than at a restaurant. Plus it is not fresh, it sits there in the fridge for who knows how long. I've stopped buying it. |
DP: I just looked at the labels of all the different kinds of rice in my pantry, including sushi rice -- they are all the same. Also, I don't add sugar to my sushi rice. |
