Duran gets an incomplete for these SOL reports. What a failure to not have the 2023 SOL results by the end of July.
A “failure”? Some people really look for things to whine about.
Yeah people are dramatic. Looking on the state's website. They don't have 2023 date yet. So assume we are waiting on them.
I don’t blame APS or care that much but a) the state has SOL results already, and if they (state and/or county) really should communicate why they are taking so long to be released and b) that document was pointless and raised more questions than it answered so it’s silly that they put it on parentvue.
Maybe Youngkin fired the number crunchers so it takes longer to calculate percentiles.
Ha I don't think they even put percentiles on regular SOL reports but sometimes I do wonder if Youngkin's admin does stupid stuff to make local school boards look stupid. Regardless I think APS should be communicating with parents on this. Maybe just "hey, we aren't sure when the state is going to release SOL scores but we will keep you posted!"
They probably don’t want to waste the effort because it’s not that important. Was this the first year your kid took an SOL?
Last year and I believe in years past they sent out an email that said something like "FYI your kids' scores will appear in parentvue on these dates." Parents are curious and I don't see why the county can't just communicate a bit with us. I don't actually care that much what they are (probably like you) but I do get why other parents care. I think a lot of parents are still worried about pandemic learning loss. Also I have gotten scores for my rising 9th grader's writing SOL and my rising 6th grader's math SOL (not the report, just the score). So they have got the scores but they are just sitting on them and it's weird to me that they haven't even said when we will get them like in years past.
I believe they said that scores will be released in July. Apparently that means the very, very last day of July.
