What’s a good Asian dish to cook for a very white bread Midwestern family?

I wouldn't and just cook something you know they will eat.

The goal isn’t to make them decide they dislike Asian food.

I’m Asian and the dishes I cook I know aren’t going to go down well for the wife who is averse to anything spicy and lives on soda and fast food. I have never seen her eat anything that wasn’t a French fry or a fish stick and she doesn’t eat vegetables either so I am leaning towards just making a chicken teriyaki but was hoping DCUM would have some ideas?

Ok why did your DH volunteer you for this? Hope he will be your sous chef. Maybe just buy a bottle of Trader Joe’s teriyaki sauce and cook a plain chicken veg stir fry.

If they’re in the Midwest, I doubt OP will easily find Thai basil for this dish.

NYT has a good Galbi recipe with rice and lettuce as a wrapper (Korean-Style Short Ribs). I can’t imagine it being a stretch for any meat-and-potatoes midwesterners.

What type of Asian are you? And why are you letting your husband volunteer you like this?

It's all the same to her Americana loving fried food "white bread Midwestern inlaws".

She might as well just order Uber eats fro PF Chang and call it a night.

Fried rice w/basics (chicken, carrots, egg)
