$300k house near swim and tennis clubs, sports facilities, and great schools and jobs anywhere in the US

My child is used to the nice weather and loves to be outside so New York isn't high on the list plus few jobs in construction. But it's cheap.

No but we can’t afford the area anymore. He’s played sports down in North Carolina. It seems the most comparable to where we live now and there are great job prospects there. Even if I could stay in the area I’d have to switch school districts.

Don't see how that makes sense. If you need the cash, isn't it best to take on a new smaller mortgage instead of plunking down $300k?

the middle of the country is often much hotter in summer and much colder in winter.

DP, I am assuming that OP has some challenges w their credit/job situation that wouldnt allow them to get a mortgage. I have been in this situation before and it sucks.

Did not read the whole thread, but my first question would be what sport does the kid do? Youth sports are oddly regional, and some niche sports are simply not available in certain areas.
