Period.

This.

An SRO would have known the kid, known his situation, etc.

Tell that to the student who was killed at Roosevelt HS in DC while they have SRO at the school.
They are useless except for harassing and roughing minority kids

Kids who are behaving, following the rules, doing their work, and not bringing weapons to school do not get harassed by anyone.

There are almost 1700 students at Magruder.

That is exactly why they need several SROs.

Exactly. Had nothing to do with race.

Behave, follow the rules and don’t bring drugs and weapons to school - and you won’t be harassed by the SROs.

If only the police would do their jobs.

If no one reports it how can they make an arrest? You can’t seriously be suggesting the police randomly pat down people and search bags.

DP - This is legal inside schools, even if it would be unpopular.

It would be unpopular because it's a terrible idea.

It's an excellent and needed idea. Clear bookbags are required in our school system as well.

So, how do you explain the kids who spoke at school board meetings while this was under discussion? There were good, rule-abiding, conscientious, kids who described racial profiling, double standards kid POC, and concrete incidents of racial bias on the part of SROs in the MCPS system.

Maybe even 1700 SROs! There is no problem that can't be solved with SROs! Whatever the problem is, the solution is: SROs!

Oh, do you work in a school that's in a prison?

When I see posts like this one, I wonder if these posters are real, real life human beings. Are they bots? Are they living in the real world.?
No one living in the good old USA can be that gullible and so out of touch with reality.

And make the kids wear uniforms like orange jump suits too.

You can just wand a kid with a metal detector just like at the airports. The issue is what do you do if a kid has a weapon found this way. Admin wouldn't do this. Either security or a cop would do it. You would still need security or a cop to handle it from there.
