| French sounds a bit phlegmy but it can be nice too. Lots of Germanic languages sound silly to me as an English speaker because our words are so similar sometimes but I'm sure Dutch people or Germans might feel the same. |
|
I also think French and Mandarin can sound similar, both nice although I don’t have a good ear for either.
English is probably the ugliest |
Hehe, your right about your hearing if you think French sounds like Mandarin. French yes, Mandarin heck no! Mandarin has too many sing-song words and harsh Sss & Zzz sounds which feels like an assault to the ears. |
I disagree. It depends who speaks it. English spoken by British, good. English spoken by some Africans, really nice! English spoken by Australians, painful to hear. |
+1 calm yo tits. I love listening to German. Everyone should watch Saint Maik on pbs masterpiece. You will also love listening to him. |
Oh darling. British is a wide range too. Essex, RP, Geordie, Welsh. Welsh is delightful. |
I can not stand the the British accent. But could listen to Australians talk all day long. |
Australian English sounds a lot like the southern accent in the US. Flat. British English sounds 'tall'. -non-native English speaker |

I like:
•French •Upper- class British accents I dislike: •German •Farci •Mandarin •Spanish •Southern American accents •Polish •Russian |
| Irish is my favorite language to listen to. It sounds so musical. Italian, too. |
| Spanish well spoken is music to my ears. |
Just so you don't repeat this in the company of others, the "pots and pans" thing is the beginning of a well known racist joke. Often told in the 80s/90s. |
I think these accents carry a lot of baggage because of class associations but I do really love Southern aceents. |
| Brazilians Portuguese sounds bizarre to me - liked it has a lot of pitch and rate changes. As a medical provider I used to wonder if patients were being histrionic until I realized that almost all Brazilians spoke that way and it was really just an accent. |
| American Sign Language is the most beautiful. |
