| I love the sound of Hebrew. |

Italian is the most beautiful. Italians can make any language sound beautiful (I love listening to people speak English with an Italian accent, swoon)
Portuguese sounds the worst to me. Their inflections sound so whiny, it doesn’t seem to matter what they’re talking about, it sounds like they’re complaining. |
I think that might be due to the influence of Arabic on the Portuguese. Apparently, it sounded more like Spanish early on. |
| Why do Haitians not understand French? I mean, it could be me, but in my work with my basic language, Cameroonians, Ghanaians, and French Canadians understand me, but not Haitians. My French is far from perfect, but I use only basic phrases in my work, yet they stare at me like I speak Martian. As mentioned, there is no such issue with other French speakers. Nothing I try to say is complicated. |
I agree with this; it is such beautiful language. I am surprised, though, that nobody mentions any Slavic languages here. |
I think when you speak a language yourself, you really notice the differences in accent but they’re often not obvious to non-native speakers. Many times, people have told me they cannot differentiate between the accents of the UK, South Africa and Australia. I was a bit incredulous. |
| I am ESL and love English. Portuguese is my least favorite. |
Haitians speak creole so that is their native language. If you heard Haitian Creole you wouldn't understand it either. But most importantly school attendance rate in Haiti is incrediblely low and that's where metropolitan French is taught (except for Ghana where English is taught in school). The literacy rate in Haiti is 60%, far lower than the other countries you listed. |

I've lived in 6 countries.
My favorite language to hear is Czech. The least pleasant-sounding to me is Urdu. |
Idk, French native here and that is odd! Where I live there are a lot of Haitian people and we understand each other in French. If anything, I find that the hardest are French Canadians with a very thick accent. |
You wish they would just shut up as they clean your feet and trim your nails?? |
I was actually surprised that two commenters in the first couple of pages mentioned Ukranian! |
Arabic influenced Spanish far more than in influenced Portuguese. Spain was an Islamic stronghold for centuries! And all Romance languages sounded essentially the same early on: it was all Latin. |

All you haters of southern American accents can't be talking about the accents like Shelby Foote! I could listen to that accent all day! How-evah! The Appalachian twang I had in my youth, I'm glad to be (mostly) rid of.

I disagree on the bolded. Italian sounds loud and rude. |
