THIS!! JR is NOT fine. DCUM always makes such a big deal about UMC demographics, but by that measure, JR is shockingly bad. Less than 10 students scored a 4 or 5 on the math PARCC? And I know someone will say kids skip the test, but is that true of *all* the UMC kids who DCUM assumes would be scoring a 4 or 5?

You are misreading the data. 664 students took the math PARCC. 122 scored a 4 or 5. In all likelihood fewer than 10 scored 5, so they suppress the number of 4s as well, to prevent people like me from backing out the exact number of 5s.

Also you need to bear in mind that the best math students take one math PARCC in high school (Algebra 2, in 9th) while the worst take at least two. So at schools like JR and Walls where a lot of freshmen take Algebra 2, the overall numbers look worse than they are.

DCPS should still provide a school specific bus like they do for Deal (D32 etc.). Perhaps one from the Hardy area and one from Tenleytown.

D6 don't take the kids close to the school. The students have to walk to get there.. M4 can be extended for the kids in tenleytown and Wesley heights.The people in charge are very disorganized in many aspects in this case.

One of Hardy's strongest teachers is headed to MHS this August. Huge loss for Hardy but speaks volumes to me about the energy and potential of MHS. If he's onboard it's worth looking at. Our family will be watching closely and really hope it's a viable option For our current Hardy 7th grader.

But how will you know that by the time you either need to apply out to privates or do the lottery? If your child is in 7th grade, you’d need to apply to privates by early January and accept a spot by mid March. 6 months into a new school doesn’t seem long enough to know if it’s viable.

My current Hardy 7th grader will have a choice between JR and MacArthur (last class at Hardy that will have that choice).
