Yes, as a pressure relief valve for JR. Personally I’m unwilling to take a chance on a new school with my kid’s high school education so my child will attend Catholic school next year. |
The teachers that have been hired for the coming school year seem to be pretty good. They all have a fair amount of experience. They are listed on the Principal McCray’s Twitter feed. |
Everyone I know from Hardy is going to MacArthur and I know a bunch of people at JR moving over to MacArthur as well. |
How can the general public see this list. |
Didn’t read the last sentence! |
why the shade on JR? |
what shade? |
I completely agree that Principal Cooke will have a positive impact on Macfarland. I know at least two teachers that are hoping to join his teaching staff and leave Hardy. It’s a big loss for Hardy. |
The principal at MacArthur seems to be the real deal and based on what I am hearing, the educators he has hired have great reputations as well. I would be highly concerned with a new school however it appears MacArthur is being built on a solid foundation of teachers, admin and course offerings to make it competitive. |
NP with no horse in the JR vs MHS race. But my lord people. How can you be drinking the Kool-Aid when it hadn't even been poured yet? |
Don't be such a cynic, PP. It's a brand new program, set up to alleviate terrible crowding at JR. Hardy parents are allowed to be optimistic that McArthur will emerge as a strong neighborhood HS. We're cautiously optimistic that the school will work out for our 7th grader!

. Really? Same old story, Capitol Hill gets the short end of the stick on DC public high schools. |
Capitol Hill deserves better by-right HSs. But the idea that Macarthur would be part of the CH solution is absurd. |
They’ve got great facilities. Oh wait, you meant fewer poors. |
No. I mean a cohort of high-performing students and courses to match. |
