And all of them are angry RWNJs. Especially the ones that claim to be former democrats. They're welcome to move out of Fairfax to a county more aligned with their regressive politics. |
I think they’ve done some good things and raised some important issues. I suspect they are freaking out a bit now as they realize the local Democratic money machine is primed to do what they can to replace one 12-0 Democratic School Board with another 12-0 Democratic School Board. I agree there shouldn’t be another echo chamber but I’m not sure they have the political savvy to get that message across effectively. |
+1 Plus, there is a reason that the SB has not voted on the FLE recommendations. It's now "hush-hush." I bet they delay it until after November and stick with the status quo this year. |
Claims the obvious LWNJ.

They have nothing to fear as long as government school is a good choice. School choice isn’t scary to a cheerleader of public schools if there is no fear that it wouldn’t be chosen by most. Right now, school choice is only for rich people, those doing well enough to scrape up tuition with sacrifices, and scholarship kids. As to making money in the schooling game, do you think the consultants, curriculum, software companies et al. that FCPS employs work for free? |
As an R who is considering running for SB in the Langley district, what would you like to see? |
Not in Dranesville, but I'd like to see focus on academics and common sense decisions. Enforce rules and get kids under control. |
The Rs have already endorsed a SB candidate for Dranesville. |
All Rs and Ds are too focused on social issues that affect such a small number of students. And both sides end up sounding crazy. I want to see a school board member who worries about getting and retaining the best possible teachers, improving the actual subject curriculum, gets rid of block scheduling ( horrible for attention spans and reinforcement of material), and greatly reduces the useless overhead in gatehouse. Also stop all the parent teacher surveys with poorly worded questions where they manipulate the data to support whatever they wanted to say (see gatehouse reduction). Reduce the use of videos in instruction. Be a nice person. |
Who? |
His name is Paul Bartkowski. He’s an intellectual property lawyer but don’t know much about his position on FCPS issues. |

I know a bunch of people in the FCPA and a bunch of the people on social media that attack them on behalf of the Fairfax Dems. Basically the FCPA is the OpenFCPS parents, now raising issues like FCPS's lack of focus on academics. While these parents are obviously somewhat political, it's pretty incredible how much less political they are than almost everyone else (including the supposedly nonpartisan schoolboard)
Since the FCPA's criticisms are reasonable and objectively true (watch any school board meeting and all they talk about is equity, meaning equal outcomes for everyone), the Fairfax Democrats have an ad hoc team that attacks FCPA nonstop as a distraction tactic. The playbook is pretty obvious: paint them as the MAGA Boogeyman so no one pays attention to the painful truths they're blowing the whistle on. Of course, in this county, lots are willing to accept whatever BS these Dems come up with. |
DP. Exactly what I was going to say. I'm in the Dranesville district. |
The complete eradication of the GOP
