And I say this as someone who didn't go to a highly rated school myself, but I think it makes way more sense, including financially, to go the cc route and aim for a better college.

What if your performance is still only average in community college, like they were in high school? What does that do for your transfer opportunities?

College is not for everyone. There are so many lucrative job opportunities for young adults who don’t want to go to college. And that is not just ok, it’s great.

no it happening with that GPA. Possibly VCU and maybe CNU though.

Well it has happened so not sure why you are saying it’s not happening. Many students do get accepted to JMU with a 3.3.

Again, not according to SCHEV. Which is far more accurate than Naviance. -DP

This is very misleading. These are the profiles of the students who accepted and went to the school. Not those accepted.

You think that an large number of weaker students are admitted to JMU and then pick somewhere else?

I mean, it would be awesome if they did, because it would mean that people are finally paying serious attention to the mismatch problem and are putting their less bright children into places where they're not low man on the totem pole, but I refuse to believe there's been such an outbreak of sensibility.

I can tell you that mason admits much lower stats and that their GPA is so high because high stats kids go their to live at home and save money.

You cannot apply the data from these statistics to determine if your kid will be admitted.

Daughter rejected from JMU and CNU with a 3.6. Several friends in the 3.3-3.6 range rejected as well. JMU and CNU are not easy to get into with a 3.3. And BTW my daughter is a legacy to both.
