Again, not according to SCHEV. Which is far more accurate than Naviance. -DP https://research.schev.edu//enrollment/B10_FreshmenProfile.asp |
Do you look at SCHEV, or just take the word for the self-reported Naviance, which also only uses senior year grades? SCHEV is the most accurate reporting you're going to get. DP |
Not for W&M. Schev reversed W&M’s ACT math and English scores I believe. |
Which southern publics? This website would have you believe you need a 4.0 to get into many of them. |
Likely southern directional universities. Also my friend took her sons to Appalachian state last week and were surprised they liked it so much. Maybe check out that one. |
| SMU, Lehigh, Fordham, Pepperdine |
| Who could possibly know?? |
Are you a JMU booster? It’s ok really if 3.3 kids get in. It’s still a fine school. |
No, not at all. Maybe 20 years ago… |
| American University? |
What if your performance is still only average in community college, like they were in high school? What does that do for your transfer opportunities? |
Likely just a direct move to the coal mines as your only exit opportunity. |
This is data from enrolled students, not admitted. Big difference! |

My DS has these stats and ended up being accepted to ODU, York of Pa., Northern Arizona University, ASU and the University of Arizona. The Arizona schools pretty much accept anyone with a 3.0 and actually offer merit scholarships above the 3.0 level that make them more affordable for OOS students. Ultimately our son chose Radford. Why? His major had a good program at that school and DS was also reflective on what kind of school would offer him the best chance for success. Radford understands their student body (average students) and leans forward to make them successful.
For those of us with average kids, this is an important point. More prestigious schools make not be the best fit even if your child is accepted--I know that my son would not have thrilled in a large public university. I think he knew what he needed and made a good choice. (I was impressed with York, by the way, but my son never liked it). |
This is very misleading. These are the profiles of the students who accepted and went to the school. Not those accepted. |
